I've been part of this site for seven years. For the longest time, I was immersed in it. I played forum games, wrote collaborative pieces with people, bitched about the hobby that brought us here. I was here before Unskippable existed (he totally could have flanked this guy). It was a home.

This is my first post in almost three years. It will be my last.

The Escapist brought on a person with absolutely abhorrent views. This was Archon's explanation.

"Lizzy and Brandon Morse are writing articles. They are not employees or news writers. As I've said elsewhere, we've downsized on both employees and news writers and aren't staffing up right now.

Nor are they writing political work for us. Josh and I are quite serious that we don't want the Escapist to be political. That means we don't want it to be left-wing OR right-wing.

That said, everyone has political views. Some writers will hold views some of you disagree with. I certainly disagree with lots of our writers' views. If you see some content here from people that hold right-wing views more frequently than in the past, it's because more right-wing journalists are pitching us these days."

That's not how it works. You can say "it's not about politics" or that they have views "you disagree with."

You're endorsing these people. By publishing their work, you are endorsing their views.

Brandon Morse has complete and utter contempt for transsexuals. He not only posted this:
"If you want to be trans, then you go right ahead. Don?t force everyone else to pretend along with you."

He reblogged this comment from the Erick "Women breadwinners are against nature, feminists are too ugly to date, feminazis" Erickson.
"Brandon Morse @TheBrandonMorse
Follow
Trans sic kin boogity boogity goolah! RT @EWErickson: If you have an X and a Y, you're a guy. It's biology."

This isn't about "right wing" or "left wing" or whatever horseshit labels people use to pretend there are only two sides to everything. This is about basic human decency.

What you are saying to your trans readers and to those who just have solidarity with them is that you value someone's ability to write about video games more than you do their capacity to be a kind human being.

I'm sure you've seen this thread before. It doesn't matter. This is an absolutely appalling decision.

And wait! I found more while I was writing this. Turns out he also argues that being gay is a choice and that people can "choose to stop being gay" http://misfitpolitics.co/2014/01/the-real-problem-with-macklemores-grammy-performance/

He also actively mocks trans people ( http://i.cubeupload.com/VvC4e2.png http://i.imgur.com/wRVVunG.png ). And there's also this little gem https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-Zc4EaCMAAAA9B.png:large .

So, congratulations, Escapist. Congratulations.

Hooray for political diversity!

Edit: Also, inb4 Thread close. I think mod said something about no badmouthing content creators even before writing.

You should take it up to the people who make hiring decisions. Everyone here already knows and either cares or doesn't care. When I have a problem with a content creator, that's what I do. I encourage you to do the same thing.

Ah. I see. Well, thank you for putting a foot back into the Escapist forum door and promptly putting said foot into your mouth. This is old news and the mods have already closed threads about this. We've either accepted this, already left the forums, or don't care. Have a good day.

You'd think this would be common sense...

Copied from another thread.

Direct PMs is a viable option. Sending it to Archon would be the quickest route. Also the current Community Manager ffronw.

There's the Moderation User Group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Moderation-Team] though the only active members of Staff there seem to be s0sleepie (Another viable PM option).

There's also the Contact [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/contact/] form that's at the very bottom of the front page. It works the same as the Appeals system in that it sends the Staff an email in the form of a 'ticket'. I'm unsure of what subject would be good to put it under but I think either Feedback or Letter To The Editor might be good choices.
