So, fellow escapists, have you ever traded a game in and later re-bought it? Have you simply not bothered to play a game in a long time and then suddenly gone back to it? What did you feel?
Most games that I've traded in, I have yet to feel the need to come back to. Any game that I honestly believe that I will want to undust and play again in the future, I shall keep.

Digging out my old xbox and firing up Timesplitters Future Perfect.

It was beautiful...

Also all the other games, like Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, Beyond Good and Evil, Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Spartan: Total Warrior, Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes, and Metal Arms: Glitch in the System.

Ah, nostalgia...
I...

YOU KNOW ME SO WELL!

Well. I didn't trade in exactly, but I got rid of all my old Dreamcast games when my Dreamcast died about 7 years ago. This year I bought a new dreamcast and all the games I had, including Shenmue. Really enjoyed replaying some of them.

This year I bought Fallout 3 (GOTY version) on a Steam sale, but as I played Fallout 1 & 2 only once, years ago, I decided to play them again before playing F3 (yeah I know they're different, made by different companies, etc).

I started the first Fallout thinking I wouldn't like it as much as when I first played it, that my memories were colored by nostalgia, and so on. The interface is a bit wonky at first (or after some years without playing), and the isometric perspective sometimes gets on your way (things behind walls for instance), but after getting used to these small things, the game shines. Very well written, excellent characterization, etc.

I'm almost finishing Fallout 2 now, which I'm liking even more than the first, despite the bugs. Maybe it's because I played F2 less when it originally came out, but right now I'm liking it more than F1.

I hope that when I finally get to play New Vegas its bugs will have been fixed. I still have to play Fallout 3 before I buy New Vegas, though.

Just to be smug:

"I have money, so..."

OT: Since I've never traded, I do have a big library. Big enough for me to forget how much i enjoyed the Rachet & Clank series (2nd game i ever bought). I don't care if it's nostalgia, since I'm having ever so much fun with it. To play it again, is like strangling "the cake is a lie" joke, with my bare hands. If a joke could bleed, i'd be jizzing my pants.

I've bought Star Wars: Battlefront 2 after I traded it in a few years ago. It's still awesome.

Regularly go back through some of the old PC classics. Dungeon Keeper, Theme Hospital, Transport Tycoon, C&C Red Alert.

Also finally completed Secret of Mana on VC, could never beat the final boss first time around on the SNES.
Ah yes Theme Hospital for me, and Theme Park too! So glad I've just got them on my PSP now though <3

I'm going to be cliched and say Pokemon Silver, unfortunately it was stolen one day a few years back and I was torn. So when Soul Silver came out I bought it within seconds, ever since I bought it I've been recreating my old pokemon party and all I can feel is sweet, sweet nostalgia when playing it

I traded Kingdom Hearts in to get FF12 cheaper. What a huge mistake that was! About six months after i bought Kingdom Hearts again and fully completed it again, loving every minute of it!

Still haven't finished FF12 though, but who'd want to do that!?

I've been regularly replaying Freelancer. I recently even bought a second copy of that game as my original disc is getting quite scratched. I love the game enough to buy a back up copy :D

Whenever I leave it alone for several months and go back to it, I have a nerdgasm.

Oh and I cycle through Pokemon. Usually I take a short 1 month break from the series before resuming in full force :)

Dont say that, I was recently tempted to buy a new Xbox and TS2, TS:FT and Conquer: Live and Reloaded.

Now I am feeling tempted to buy it again. Star Wars BF2 is on the PC so I can ease the pain, but I do love to play great multiplayer games with bots

Sometimes I bring out some of the old N64 games. Some of them are old as hell, but others, like Majora's mask, Lylat wars and Banjo Tooie have aged wonderfully.

I've never traded in a game for this reason. I have a draw full of old playstation and nes games and honestly I'm never ever ever going to play Busby 3D ever again.... but I might!

So I keep them all.

Every year I go back and play Morrowind again. Usually at the start of summer when college ends.

Spyro series on the ps1

If I ever feel down, lonely or depressed for whatever reason I stick one of them in my playstation, my childhood comes flooding back and I'm reminded of happiness.

Like the worlds best friend who will never leave me, is always happy to see me and knows exactly what to say
