Except it doesn't.At which point it sorta stops looking that much like capitalism, mind.
Microsoft Windows. Well, maybe not Vista. What's a better system than capitalism?
Preferably either Windows 98 or XP or 7Microsoft Windows. Well, maybe not Vista.
Windows 2000 does not get the love it deserves.Preferably either Windows 98 or XP or 7
communism is better than capitalism irrespective of whatever hangup you have about that.If humans weren't humans, then sure.
No, it's not at all.communism is better than capitalism irrespective of whatever hangup you have about that.
Uh-huh... So capitalism didn't work in the prior to modern times when there wasn't much trade?Being better than capitalism isn't really the high bar people seem to think it is, given the *gestures wildly*. It's great success seems to be outsourcing its problems.
What exactly do we mean by the "prior to modern times" (lol)? Capitalism as we describe it emerged between the 16th and 18th centuries.Uh-huh... So capitalism didn't work in the prior to modern times when there wasn't much trade?
So, if you're talking about wide use of global trade routes, you'd be looking at the 19th Century. Before you could massively outsource stuff to other countries.
Not just world wide trade routes but the ability to source every part of something with tons of parts from any country you want essentially. Or just make something in another country and ship it here. Hell, a friend of a friend used to make pottery before NAFTA and then had to switch careers. How much more worldwide trade there is now than even 50 years ago is rather massive. And don't you guys call this late stage capitalism where it sorta all falls apart? What's wrong with pre late stage capitalism? It's still the best system we have, not that it's amazing or perfect, but it's still the best. So, if you're talking about wide use of global trade routes, you'd be looking at the 19th Century.
You think capitalism worked well between the 16th and 18th Centuries, then...? I assume you're drawing from your vast expertise on the Early Modern Period for this?
So when are you talking about exactly, then? Pre-1900s? Pre-1950s? When was it working great? Be specific. Because honestly, I think you just threw this vague nonsensical line out with zero comprehension of the history of capitalism, mercantilism, trade, or anything at all really. Not just world wide trade routes but the ability to source every part of something with tons of parts from any country you want essentially. Again, capitalism is better than the other alternatives, I never said it was great. So when are you talking about exactly, then? Pre-1900s? Pre-1950s? When was it working great? Be specific. I hate to tell you this, but the early modern period was not nice to live in.
