A thought to me is that why is it considered bad for a game to allow you the choices that you can make in real life Grand theft auto is the perfect exsample with all the car jacking and prostitute killings but does that make it bad? Nothing stops me from doing such things for real sure it maybe illegal but laws don't stop people breaking them.
I am not forced to play GTA nor forced to kill hookers once playing its something I have to chose and thus does that not reflect more on me as a person than the morality of a game especially since the basic staple of GTA gameplay involve violence against you because of your actions getting shot or killed or even thrown in jail or shot by the police themselves not excatly a glorfication of violence when violence begets retribution both from law enforcment and enemies I mean I certainly wouldn't wish to be in Tommy Vercetti's shoes.
Its like suggesting that train spotting glorifyed drug taking while somehow ignoring the state of the apartment and swimming in a toilet bowl full of crap yes that film sure make me want to become a drug addict.
The actions in GTA are the same as real life sure crime does have material reward non-anarchists aside people don't break the law for the hell of it but GTA shows the negative
the characters are not enviable and cause and effect are clearly visable.

You didn't kill a hooker in the game, you quite simply can't. As soon as you drive around the corner her or her evil identical twin will be there waiting for you. These just keep popping up no matter how many you kill.

if you get arrested in GTA for slaughtering 50 odd people, you get your guns confiscated and lose a bit of cash. thats a little different from life in prison though.
