So, this will make my five thousandth post with the escapist. This personally took 3 years and right at 10 days to accomplish. Seems many get introspective at this point (those who took more than 6 months to get to 5k)In that time I began literally the most miserable year of my life shortly before doing an actual registration. Saw my life flash before my eyes and literally dodged 3 bullets. I helped decide someones fate. I found myself trying to hang onto scraps of an old life while forcing myself to forge a new one. I learned the truth in the saying "You cant go home again" and find myself now in a position of having opportunity to do all sorts of things, but not able to really decide which way to go, while actually figuring out what direction comes most natural.

Its been a trying three years, and I survived it on so many levels. It is to me reaffirmation of the personal adage I have lived around, whatever doesnt kill you makes you stronger.

Anyway... enough introspection, 5000 seems to be some yard marker around these parts. So what are your thoughts on the 5000 mark? Have you made it? Did you get the Neo badge within your first 5k? If you havent, how long do you expect 5k will take you? Do you simply not even pay attention to it? Where did most of your posts come from/go (as in which area of the forum like groups, or R&P, Hot topics? etc) Are you one of the ones who can/will blow through that much quickly, or are you more like me and take a longer time.

Anyhoo, thanks escapist. You have been helpful to give me such focus/distractions during three years I really needed it.

I'm a moderate poster, I hit over 5000 posts a while back but I have been around here almost three years so I've taken my time... I do tend to vary a lot though at different times. For example I've done over 500 posts this month alone but I didn't post for almost three months straight earlier this year when I was out travelling around America.

As for where, I post mainly in Off-Topic, User-Groups and Role-playing, with a side of Pub Club too. I lurk a lot in Religion & Politics but rarely post there. I barely ever visit Gaming, Advice or Forum Games and I can assure you when I eventually conquer the Escapist I will have those sub-forums liquefied.

That's pretty much nothing nowadays. Back when I first joined (2008, I'm one of the 'Old Guard', though not as old as those rare few from 2007-and-prior...), it was considered an achievement to reach 1000 posts, then it was set as a 5000 bar, and now you're doing well to reach 10000 posts without being banned. Within the next couple of years it'll probably be that the target to be considered a 'prolific' poster or whatever has doubled again or something. Still, well done for making over 5000 posts, you've done well either way :)

I still haven't reached that 5000 post mark. I will one day! I thought it was fantastic to even reach 1000. I should stop lurking so much and should post everywhere! Most of my posts come from the gaming and off topic section and on occasion the forum games. I took I think a year or two just to get to this amount of posts. Congratulations on your 5000 posts, OP!

Nearly there! And pretty quickly too, to be honest. Active group chats really know how to make it easy getting those posts up.

Hahahaha! I beat you all (for now)!

IMO you reach a point where the post count is so irrelevant that you just stop looking at it.

Still chugging along at it, and since I joined a few months after you, I'm taking my time.

For the most part my posts have come on the main forums, but a couple hundred are probably Forum Games

It took me a long time to get my Neo but I did when I hit 5000. Glad to hear you're still putting one foot in front of the other, I've seen you around here and there. Congrats on the milestone and may you have good fortune wherever you steer your life. :)

I'm still chugging away. I'm still about 1300 posts away, but unless I suddenly turn into a jerk on the forums, chances are I'll get Neo.

I will join you soon one of these days, perhaps in the year 2050 when the escapist rules the earth.

I have no intention of making it past 2000. I kind of hope my life will be too busy at that point to have time for the Escapist.
Now watch as I rapidly accrue tens of thousands of posts within the year.

Whale plaid friend, you must like this community. I hit 5k a few months ago, and it felt good and I realised that I no longer need to look at my post count now, I have all the mile stones!

No indeed, it shall be EATEN!! ¬_¬

@OP: Congrats on the Neo... though with the proliferation of 10000+ posters (myself included in all likelihood in a couple months' time, even though my posting rate has gone down quite a bit), they'll probably bump the thread badge milestones up by a factor of something.

I did likewise almost a year to the day of my joining... then got my first warning a week later! -_-

Wow, I don't really post much in the grand scheme of things.

I'm definitely more of a lurker. I don't like getting into debates because people tend to hurt my feelings on here.

Took me a little over a year to reach 5000. I still mostly lurk and post rarely. (Looks at current post count). Wow, I've been lurking a lot.
