Minecraft: there's something about the almost godlike power to terraform the entire world as you see fit, and the satisfaction of making an aesthetically pleasing glass- stone- and tree- (yes, tree) based house and mapping out all the features yourself. It's for the power-tripping graphic designer in me, I guess is what I'm saying.

Damn I don't have a single game I like majorly! I like most of the games I play alot so does that mean I have to write an essay for each one? Grrrrr...

Halo: I like the idea of a war between Humans and Aliens and how its depicted as a one sided conflict seeing as the humans always make reference to how powerful the covenant are and how they have practically lost already but then seemingly out of nowhere, you, Spartan 117, emerge from cyro-sleep to tip the balance in this war of worlds in the favour of humanity and along the way gain allies in the covenant forces and by the end game are seen as a practical messiah for Humans and Sangheili as you free both races from this destructive war and save them from the plague that is the flood.

I'll have "temporary favorites" from time to time and completely ignore all others. If I had to pick one of all time, however, I would have to go with Fire Emblem. I consider the entire series one game as the reasons I like it are the same regardless of the particular story.

I enjoy it because of the perfect balance it has of strategy and RPG. I have yet to find a game that can rival it, Advance War lacks the RPG aspect for me. Final Fantasy Tactics is close but has a bit too much going on for me to put it above FE. The only one I have heard of that is similar that I have not tried is Shining Force.

Ive heard/seen that the disgea series is very similar.
I like FE and also enjoyed FFXII: Revanant wings. although it was a bit shallow..

I tried Disgea DS once but felt it was a little cheesy story wise. I may have to give it another try sometime.

FFX. Wide variety of characters (so you can at least relate to someone). It's a story about love and optimism and all that jazz, as well as having a good conflict (Sin) and the over-throwing of a religious dictatorship (Seymour anyone?).

Mass Effect: Loved the attention to detail.
L4D2: A gore-fest that is actually fun.

Fallout 3 (probably not my Favorited but when I got it I hadn't played any new games for like 2 years) I think I enjoyed it because I have always been interested in the aftermath of nuclear war, like what the landscape would be like and all that. So Fallout 3 really delivered, even though when I bought it I had no idea what it was, it was so great and fun for me.

Naruto Shippuuden Ultimate Ninja Hero 2

First, I love games with long ass names.

Second, I love the Naruto anime so this game hits there.

Third, the graphics are beautiful and help pull you into that world.

Fouth, the combat system is fun and simple but still works without being repetitive.

Fifth, the large roster of characters is just great, allowing me to play my favourite characters.

Sixth, the characters are proper to their anime counterpart, Neji's usualy bent down, Gaara's arms are usualy crossed, Lee has his pose. It's great!

Seventh, the characters Ultimate Jutsus are amazing and mostly unique to the game.

Eigth, the side missions aren't a requirement(something I despised about the first game)

Ninth, it has Killer Bee. And he's just epic.

Tenth, Gaara's sand is freaking amazing in how good it looks

Eleventh, the boss battles are epic

Twelth, the cutscenes are just soooo fun to watch.

Arcanum for many reason. The lore and world is truly unique and a great place to "escape" to. It also allows me a very large ability to truly "role play" as each character I have made has been extremely different from the others in many ways.

Borderlands is an amazing game, mostly because of how satisfying the feeling of getting a new amazing gun is, and then wading through hordes of enemies, and watching them die around me.

I love the awesome powers, the wacky enemies, the art style, and the amazing humor.

Most of all I just love the guns though. The awesome effects they can have....

Any multiplayer shooter you care to name (COD, Halo, Counterstrike, etc) appeals to me immensely because my mind finds playing against a human opponent much more fulfilling then against AI. It feels like a true test of skill.

Even this simple 2D multiplayer shooter is quite addictive:


The downside to all of this of course is hackers and also people treating other people like douche bags.

Psychologically I found World of Warcraft appealing at one point namely because of the attachment you have with your character.

Half-Life 2.

It's mostly just the spectacular environments that draw me in, and the captivating story that makes me want to keep playing.

No other game has made me so enthralled (That the right word?) in it's universe.

Fallout.Apart from not being able to kill kids,there is an almost absolute freedom in an understandable and well-thought scenario.What better way to stop the Legion (For those who have play NV) then to sneak past the main force and assassinate Caesar,or I could hammer Lanius to death,or maybe instead,I could tell him to push off because the NCR is doomed anyway.Think about it.I could instead,join the Legion and push the NCR off the curb and into the fire pit,help House and his business like demeanor,or take control myself with a annoying robot.So many options and all I wanted to do at first was blow stuff up!

Well, my favorite recent game was Red Dead Redemption, I've always had a fascination for the old west, probably due to the fact that the society I grew up in (America as a whole) has the same fascination. Besides that, the multiplayer was easy for me to get good at, so I enjoyed being good at it. The story was interesting, and the world was big enough. There were lots of things I could work towards, but they weren't annoyingly hard like the Assassin's Creed 1 flags. Red Dead was fun for me because it's the game I've always kind of wanted, a gta style old west game with fun multiplayer and a vibrant world that, while pretty empty, had more life than most games ever do.

My favorite game is Silent Hill 2, which was the second survival horror game I've ever played after the first one (I refuse to count Resident Evil 1 and 2 as survival horror), which became my favorite genre. My soft spot is for atmosphere, and this game introduced me to the most atmospheric genre. The atmosphere is only made better by the fact that it is a macabre atmosphere, which appeals to the sadistic and masochistic nature I have. Not only that, the game had incredible depth to it on how psychological it is, which again appealed to me since I have an interest in storytelling and psychology.

Silent Hill. It started its own original mythos that, for the most part, is open to interpretation and is still discussed to this day. No two people have the exact same interpretation. Sure, there are some more popular opinions/theories that people might borrow from, but each will explain their take on what's what 'n what happened a bit differently.

Even with how horrible the graphics were back then, I was completely immersed. I was lost in a town that's strangely familiar, yet alien at the same time and I needed to find my daughter. I felt every foot-step Harry took, every swing or shot that he took, or even the attacks that he wasn't quite able to evade. I wanted to learn everything I could about what happened to this town and the people in it; to see every possible story arc, and gain some semblance of closure. All I got was a cutscene, a grade, and a crap-ton of repeat playthroughs. No complaints.

Tales of Symphonia. It's my favorite game because I was able to care about the characters early on and really feel like I was on an adventure with them. The story is amazing (IMO) and it's the only game that has made me cry both in sadness and joy in only a few minutes. I've always loved customization and ToS has just the right amount for me and the unique battle system makes the fights feel more tactical.

You sir just found yourself a new best friend!

Basically this but for vesperia also, the people behind the series can make you care a lot about the characters you play and that's a really good thing.

Team Fortress 2:

Each class has a particular style of play that caters to a wide variety of preferences. I often find that my class selection changes from day to day depending on my mood. If I'm tense, I pick Heavy and unwind by clearing an entire room of enemies with the bullet-hose minigun. If I'm feeling a bit crazy, I go Pyro and start burning things. If I'm feeling charitable, I play Medic and help keep my team alive.

Usually I play Spy because I like the idea of helping others indirectly and messing with the minds of my opponents. My backstabs and building saps lessen the opposition on the front lines and spreads paranoia in the ranks of my enemies. Nothing give me a better feeling of satisfaction in the game than watching enemies run around in circles shooting at the air and each other trying to find me instead of trying to stop my team.

Also, I enjoy any game that has a sense of humor and doesn't take itself too seriously. In this regard, TF2 delivers in spades.
