Hi there everyone, so where I am it is august first. I just realized something very cool. Lisa Simpson, from the famed The Simpsons, was supposed to be married today. I was watching an old season on dvd, can't remember which... but the point is they showed a wedding invite for lisa's wedding to some guy. But it is August 1st 2010 when this is supposed to happen... and seeing as how Lisa, and the rest of the Simpson family, haven't aged a day in 20 years I think it's kinda odd they even had a date like that.

Discussion value: What have you guys seen in shows, games, books whatever, and realizes that dates they were talking about were close upon us, or already past. And what were they? There has to be more odd stuff like this out there. Right?

Persona 3 takes place in 2009 - 2010., with the exact date shown. Because of that, I played every day until the end. Just to make things more epic, I fought the final boss on January 31[sup]st[/sup], 2010 at midnight, just like in the game. Now I just have to wait until 2011 to start my Persona 4 day-by-day playthrough.

Edit: I can't forget the second part of MGS2. April 29[sup]th[/sup], 2009.

I think there were a few episodes of The Twilight Zone with stuff like that. I can't think of any specific examples right now tough. I'll come back and edit this if I do.

I had Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 for PC and in the game they have billboards in the background for real life stuff. At any rate, around the time the movie "Shoot 'Em Up" was coming out they had the poster for it on one of the billboards with the date of its release on it. I played the game that day and the sign changed from "In theaters such-and-such date" to "In theaters now."

Was that the episode about the gypsy telling her future? She was just making that up right? I used to play Raystorm a lot and the game starts August 5 2219 I think, such a shame I won't be playing it on that exact day.

The Doctor Who episode 'The Big Bang' the world was supposed to end on the same day it aired on TV. That was a rather nice touch and impressed me when I noticed it.

Batman Beyond takes place in the year 2039. I always thought it was pretty neat that I would live to see that day, barring some horrible accident. Here's hoping we have supersuits, flying cars and weird slang like "shway" by then.

There are so many old movies that have this problem, but I'm gonna call out my favourite, 'Escape from New York'. It's well past 1997 and New York isn't a maximum security prison.
