Also (sorry, I can't help myself with this sort of thing), if you'd be interested in some feedback: your application is pretty good, but you'd do well to mention an interest in something a little more obscure: you mention CERN, but everyone's heard of CERN. You talked about medical physics, got any examples? Any specific fields? Any unusual theories or experiments?
Heck even just name dropping something like ITER or the National Ignition Facility (assuming you're interested in nuclear fusion) would be a step in the right direction (although they aren't all that obscure, as evidenced by an enthusiastic bystander like me knowing about them).
Given your interest in the area you must have read about something that piqued your interest: something unusual that'll help you stand out from all the other applications which enthuse about CERN.
