Well, the other day I bought some songs on iTunes. No big deal, right? Wrong. After I paid for the songs, none of them began to download. I waited, hoping that it was just going to take a few moments. I never got my songs. So I thought "Hmmm, maybe I'll just report the problem to them..." Well I did, and this is what I got.

"Your request for a refund for "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll" was carefully considered; however, according to the iTunes Store Terms of Sale, all purchases made on the iTunes Store are ineligible for refund. This policy matches Apple's refund policies and provides protection for copyrighted materials."

Please note, I did not ask for a refund. I specifically asked if they could try sending me the songs again. For all three songs, the same message was printed. The best part is, the messages came immediately after I reported the problem. That's your 'careful consideration' for you.

In the end, I just thought 'Assholes', and went on with my life. However, this has been tugging on my mind for a while, so I thought I'd get your options. Hit me with them.

Yeah, I've lost part of my music collection to DRM, and my dead laptop holds some of those songs in it's death grip. Just go with my plan: buy CDs.

Seems like a good plan. It'll also support musicians more.

Not sure about that last bit, but with CDs, it's always there. You can use it an infinite amount of times, use it if your car doesn't have an Aux in port, they're great. Makes you wonder why we gave them up.

Honestly, that's why I never download anything off of I-tunes.
A good internet user knows how to pirate any music.
Try that?

Strange thing happened to me the other day; I bought "Go On Your Way" by Fleetwood Mac from iTunes store, it downloaded fine and is on my iTunes music list, and in my "Purchased" playlist. However, when I tried to put it on my iPod, it appeared on the Purchased playlist, and it plays fine there, but doesn't appear on any of the Artist or Album sections.

I guess it doesn't really have much to do with your problem, but this seems as good a place as any to speak about it, considering they make it impossible for Australians to post anything on the iTunes forum (that's another strange tale, and I must apologise to anyone in America who has the phone number (918)555-1212 and gets any calls from Apple).

Maybe you should try posting this on the forums, or actually calling Apple directly. You must have been sent a receipt by e-mail, so you have proof that you purchased the songs, don't you?

EDIT: Incidentally, I always have at least two backup copies of songs I download just in case. When I decide I want to download a song, I add it to a list, and when I have about twenty songs, I downlaod them all at once and put it on CD straight away, then put them on an external hard drive. I have experienced the loss of a great deal of media over the years due to various forms of data corruption and computer failure, so I'm kind of anal about things like this.

If I buy digital copies of songs, I always use Amazon. Haven't had any silly mishaps yet.

That happened to me, but with a whole album. I also feel that they made it disgustingly hard to transfer a disc DVD to iTunes. Haven't been able to find a simplistic way yet. Oh and they're raising the price... bunch of wankers.

Your display picture is the Cake Comfort Eagle Cd. That cd is currently 2 feet from me. you obviously have a good taste in music. you have my sympathy, however cd's are the way to go. I am sitting on a freakin mountain of them right now so if Y2k comes back for revenge i'll laugh at all you when you have no music when all computers crash.

I don't like to buy things I don't have a physical copy of. Call me old school I don't care.

As for music, all of mine is from a friends Itunes or limewire, yes, its wrong. But I came from a time where downloading illegally was "cool". I haven't downloaded a song in like 3 years though. I just can't be bothered

That's intersting, because Apple were nice to me on one occasion about 4 years ago. My laptop got a virus and had it's hardrive wiped (damn you Dokken, and your nuclear powered pelvic thrusts!) loosing all my music. I sent an email to Apple explaining what had happened and asked if their was anyway of getting it back.

They said "Yep, we've checked your purchase history, here's all your lost music" They even gave me two copies of every song.

So clearly this new found hatred for the customer has appeared somewhere in the last 4 years or so

The Dokken thing is a reference to this thread:
