I lost my will to live a while ago.

But I still had my stubbornness, unwillingness to leave loose ends, love for a good hockey game and people I really liked hanging out with now and then.

Now I don't even give a thought to the entire "will to live" thing, I just find stuff I enjoy and do it. As difficult as it is sometimes, 'specially a few bad pennies constantly turning up to try and mess with my life, but hey, can't let them ruin it, can I.

Take each new day as it comes. Shrink the bigger picture until it is small enough for you to control it. Set regular, realistic goals that you know you can achieve if you put your mind to it, then grow from there. Find like-minded people and be kind and honest in discussions with them. Speak your mind freely and be fair in judgement. Go to lectures and talk to the professors to see if they have any snippets of advice on dealing with those feelings; it often comes from the least likely of places.

EDIT: And listen to classical music. Awwwwwww, F**K YEAH.

Try and get involved in something on a regular basis - school club, sports club, etc. Anything that is regular and gets you out to interact with people outside of video games and online interaction.

It's a really tough way to look at it, but when I was coming to terms with how crap life can be (something like 6 years ago) my Dad just said "Yea...that's too fuckin bad."

There's no such thing as a 'bad time' or 'dark time', it's a location. A place where your life's at.
Very rarely can you just wait it out; you've gotta make moves.

You don't do much, so everything is new. Just leave the house and do shit. Find a new job, learn how to skateboard, learn about the lives of the artists you listen to, study religion, pick up martial arts or a fitness routine. Something.
You'll probably hate most of it because of your preconceptions, but it'll preoccupy yourself till your social life changes, or your mentality or whatever else is going on in your life.

Your reality is pretty pliable down to even the way you think. So just about everything can be changed.

Nothing worse than advice that says 'Just solve your problems'. It doesn't really help.

If you start looking for easy ways out, as is often with depression, seriously consider smoking. Cancer at 80 is better than giving up much earlier. If you're part time job is depressing, try quitting. You have more work experience than when you got it, and if you're employer is bad at it others will most likely value you more. Maybe not right off the bat, but if you give a months notice and use that time to find a new job, you'll be less likely to find yourself unemployed, and often get better treatment, since your new boss will know your reliable.
If your love life is miserable, you need to join a club. Starting conversations with strangers won't work out if you have no confidence. If you join a group with mix genders and succeed in making friends, finding a partner within it will be much easier.
Lastly, if you envy your sister, it means you don't know her well enough. Nobodies life is rainbows and kittens. Make note of that and be happy at all the misery in her life you don't know about, or get to know her better, and find out for yourself.
