this is something that I've seen multiple times I've never addressed it till now but I thought I start talking about it. in todays world of video games when we first see new games that take a new approach to gaming we (or atleast most game oriented news site) always consider the game to be revolutionary for example
johnny every gamer: So I've seen demos for that new (insert game that is overly hyped here ) and from what I've seen I am very impressed and look forward to playing it
then about three months and about two press releases later the game comes out and every video game reviewer including johnny everygamer review it and say it's either the best thing they've ever played or if their not influenced by money they usually say it had potential but tripped at the finish line and generally felt like it was only worth a rental for the weekend
every game thats been said is good by most reviewers (or atleast most of the one I've seen anyway) usually end up giving the game a negative review because it did not live up to the hype
I've seriously seen X-play devote a whole episode to star wars the force uneashed one half year before it was released then when it came out they only gave it a one star rating
So It is been my resolution to never give into hype and just play the games that look good because as much as G4 said that star wars the force unleashed sucked I had a rather fun time playing regardless of that
so now I ask you what are your opinions on hype and the reviewers giving in and then ultimatly giving them a scorn finger waggling
