There's probably already a thread like this somewhere, but I could only find one from 2010, so I think I can justify starting a new one.

I just looked at my Steam games list and was quite taken aback by the amount of time I've frittered away on some games, and the number I've barely played, if at all, and others I've played a decent amount of time that I barely recall. Now there's going to be inflation due to going off and doing something else while games are paused and some that I had on other platforms before steam so the actual total is much higher.

Anyway here's a list. Feel free to post your own pile of shame/pride. A few have had totals for DLC etc added together rather than listed separately.

But hey: let's see what steam says. (Eh too much work copying it off. I made my profile public and let the steamdb info site have a look) Let's visualize my second favourite hobby/worst addiction and face the wasted years:

Ok, Steam tells me that since it started counting (I know it didn't do that the first fwe years) I have played for 12.303 hours (Also it tells me i haven't played 130 of my 482 games, but that is false) Price of my Steam-Account: 4971 Euroes, 1316 Euro lowest value.

After that it's less than 10 hours. So just "Normal Story-Based" games one-and-done or games which aren't that good. But yeah GOG Stats are missing and things like Starsector where i have also hundreds of hours in.

Still i like games and such, but maybe i should concentrate myself on just short, well crafted narratives and stop wasting so much time on idle/one-mor-turn/repeat same task a million times time-wasters. sigh. Well, has something meditative/ESCAPIST parts to it, i guess.

Realtively minimal amount of games I've played on steam so that wouldn't show much even if I check.

Warframe has its own ingame profile which clocks me at 2600 hours (though some of that is leaving it sitting mostly AFK to get trade reqyests while doing house chores though).

Consideing I actively/daily played it from 2002-2013, I imagine Neverwinter Nights would be way up there too.

I distinctly remember having over 1000 hours on Perfect Dark n N64 on its own tracker ingame.

I had ~700 in Monster Hunter World on my main save that eventually got wiped when a PS4 died, and about another 80 on the second go I did just to get the last couple of addon monsters later on. And another 80ish in MH:Rise if we lump the franchise together (and some handful of the Wii game way back when)

Other top contenders would be Heroes of Might and Magic (3 in particular), and Ultima Online.

Good old timewastedondestiny has me at about 1300 hours there too (~950 on D1, the lesser amount on D2)

Monster Hunter Rise: 250 hours or so
Tears of the Kingdom: Roughly 250 hours
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 + DLC: 115 hours
Rune Factory 5: 110 hours (somehow)
Neon White: Around 90 hours
Triangle Strategy: 85 hours
Rune Factory 4 Special: ~70 hours (probably 4 times that in combined repeated playthroughs)

Ever since Monster Hunter Freedom Unite I've probably put about 1500 hours total in all the entries I've played, maybe more. Definitely my biggest time sink series

Well, the game is about 25 hours in length, so more like 12-ish playthroughs.

I replay shit A LOT though. I'd wager my accumulative playtime on the OG RE4 is likely near the 500 hours.

I don't have exact numbers, but three titles I KNOW I dumped an exorbitant amount of hours into:

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind: +400 hrs.
Dark Souls: +600 hrs.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf: easily +1,000 hrs (across multiple annual iterations.)

Honorable mention to Halos 2 and 3 which I can't begin to calculate, but likely in the several hundreds of hours in competitive/co-op multiplayer before I fell off almost all multiplayer.

Oh yeah, prior to getting steam...Guildwars, Medieval 2, Unreal Tournament... all that time on the PSX, PS2, N64, I couldn't begin to guess but it'd be a large number.

I so wanted to like that, but I found the risk/reward balance too sharp, split up to get enough warpstone and get your isolated guys heads kicked in or roll up in 1 group and win easily but make fuckall money. The warpstone is right there! We've won, they're all dead, can't we just pick it up before we run off? Or secondary goals, get that enemey guy's medallion...there it is, we've just knocked him out, he's surrounded by four of my guys...enemy routs, battle over, you failed the secondary mission.

I just played through the campaigns, but yeah that's another pre Steam game that would have a significant chunk of hours sunk.

Honestly, just not my type of game. Puzzles infuriate me. I'm stalled on Boltgun in the warpgate puzzle room.

You people and your free time lol. It’s been like, fifteen years since I might’ve been able to compete.

My top Steam playtime is MKX - 275.6 hrs.

On PS the top slots are for FROM games starting with Demon’s Souls, ranging anywhere from 100 or so (DS3/Sekiro) to 350 hours (Demon’s).

MK11 probably has at least 200.

RDR2 - 223 hrs 38 min. Story mode, 358 hrs RDO

Probably close to 500 in Elden Ring too, across three characters.


So yeah. Well under the thousand mark for single games lol.

Yeah, I have played all three incarnations of Team Fortress competitively. Between practice, matches or just hanging out with the team mates, it adds up quick.
