So J.D. Salinger's dead. I read The Catcher in the Rye before he died, but what makes me saddest of all is that people are more sad for him than Keiko Tobe, a mangaka I really like who died in her fifties, much younger than Salinger's passing at 91.

Even Michael Jackson didn't outlast Salinger, or Billy Mays. But Salinger dying remains a mark on the world, mainly because he was so reclusive - many are surprised the media found out at all about his death.

Any of you guys liked Salinger while he was alive? You can tell me, I won't call you emo.

Didn't read any of his books, so I really care as much as I would for a random person's death.

Also, this is a bit old news.

No, it isn't. Franny and Zooey is however amazing.

Billy Mays! Rofl! Love the sarcasm.

Anyway, I resented having to read him in school, appreciated the same works as an adult a lot more, much like the average adult who DOES reread his work.
I am more embarrassed about having tor ead in Rolling Stone a couple of days ago that he'd died than admitting to liking his work. How sad that despite reading the news daily, I'd not seen anything about it. =/

Recluse to the end, perhaps?

Yeah, I loved Salinger's book's including Franny & Zooey, and Catcher in the Rye.

Rumor:
He choked on his own urine.

Haha, just kidding. He did drink that stuff though...
