You do realise if he does every one of "us" Who usually keep it to games will rise and form a new goverment? The irony of his statement is unbelivible, take away the "simulaters" you get reality time to raise hell boys.

To Me BROTHERS!

EDIT: Didn't Obama say he plays Cod4 at some point?
Its a good point actually,if all gamers are violent psychopaths then isn't it best to let us play the games? We could get violent without our drug!

If he wants to end all of the school-shootings in the USA, why doens't he just ban guns instead of video games?
Because the gun lobby is stronger than the video game lobby, and they all know how to shoot.

My favorite quotes from his "letter" to Obama:

"....A shield to prevent the grand theft inocence or our children,...."

"....[The games industry] is nothing more than a band of thuggish pirates like those operating off the somali coast."

"This [a total ban on all violent games] is the price this industry must pay for more than a decade of deception and death.

Game over."

"....[The videogames industry] is one more Virginia Tech away from commercial annihilation."

Need I (or jack himself, since he is so good at making himself look crazy) say any more?

I finally made it through his letter and it's rediculious to even think that the president would even consider doing such a thing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, with issues like this it comes down to the parents who are NOT paying enough attention to what they're purchasing their children. It's as simple as that.

has it ever occurred to jack that the people who do the shootings are probably have some issues and/or are lonely and use video games to make up for that.

Well im just gunna sit down in a nice comfy chair, get a nice cool beer and watch complete and utter retarded moron fail.

Ah the finer things in life.

Note: During the election race Obama did have adverts put into Burnout Paradise which does promote car crashes. It'll be funny to see what he does.

Mario should be banned too I guess - he takes magic mushrooms - it encourages drug abuse...

But Obama has a Wii - I think you Americans are ok.

On a serious note I agree what he is saying in principle, children shouldn't have access to these games - but banning them for EVERYONE is the wrong way of going about it.

Jack is better ignored. Every notable legal institution has shunned him. He ignores, mocks, or tries to get a legal sanction against any person or entity that actually entertain his claims sincerely and desire a civilized debate. History has shown us that not only is he a hypocrit, but also he doesn't actually care about the health of American society. All he cares about is getting in the news.

He's just a troll in a business suit. The only way to beat a troll is to ignore him.

I don't have total confidence in Obama but I'm positive even he is smart enough to ignore a man who was disbarred for ethics of his actions and in violation of over 20 laws concerning his practice.

Why do they keep writing articles about that guy? If they ignore him, maybe he'll go away. Let this be a lesson, don't feed the troll!

As much as I hate to admit it, I think that Crazy Jack is nessisary. Imagine, if he was not around, then a more competent person could take over the "Ban all video games movement" then we might actually have problems.

Also saying that little kids have acces to these violent games is garbage. Two weeks ago I was tying to buy Prison Tycoon 4: Supermax, at a target (yes it is a bad game I realize it now, I just had a twenty that was burning a hole in my pocket). Anyways, I took the game up to the counter and they asked for my I.D (the game was rated T for some violence) I gave my I.D to them and they scaned it. They said that I was too YOUNG to by a T rated game. I'm sixteen, I thought you had to older than thirteen to buy a T rated game.

Imagine this hypothetical scenario: Thompson gets his way, violent games are banned. The only kind of violence allowed in games is fantasy or stylized violence (eh... for instance, think of the new Prince of Persia, Final Fantasy, etc). What would you do? Cope with it? Riot? Develop your own games?

Funny. In a year they can sell you M rated games, but NO! NEVER A T RATED GAME! THINK OF THE CHILDREN (tm)!

Whenever I here news of good 'ol' Jack, I watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiT2cbyRtAI

Edit: I admire Jack Thomsons perserverance; although he may be deluded and has never won a case, he still keeps trying to stand up for his beliefs.

I think sombody needs to beat Jack with a bat made from solid intelegence and oh ya how dare he blame the school shootings on video games dont people realize maby these kids had no one to vent 2 and they where all waysed harased cause that would explain why the target the popular kids like the football players who probly treated them like crap. I thing if Obama was intelegent he would kick Jack out of the country so fast he leaves skidmarks on the way out.

I think Jack-o is actually the best thing to happen to the video game industry. I mean, hell, everyone gets a laugh out of him, and then looks at the newest game that he is on the rag about.
then quite a few buy it!

On the one hand, I have to admire his absolute tenacity, in the same way I can admire a virus that survives after the fifth cleansing.

On the other hand, he really has to learn to let go. The only people who would use videogames as an excuse to kill others are sociopaths who not only should not represent gamers, but not represent humanity on a whole.
The media is always VERY behind on videogames, they don't understand that:
1. Some videogames are NOT for kids, which has been explicitly stated time and time again via ourselves, game producers and the game ratings boards. I mean seriously, everytime you hear about a videogame involved in some sort of overblown scandal, it's always the children thought of first, as if ALL games are made for them. THis isn't the 80s anymore, hell back in the 80s not all games were for kids either like Chiller or Death Proof.

2. Videogame technology moves at an incredible pace. A videogame from 3 years ago, is considered old, a game six years old is considered classic, not like a book or a movie which is maybe 12 years or so.
During the news on Columbine I remember they called Doom "cutting-edge".
Doom is from 1993. If anyone back in 1999 even LOOKED at the game for a few seconds, and then looked at a game made in 1999 like Medal of Honour, they'd surely see the massive difference in graphical power and realise that nobody, and even Jack Thompson has to admit this somehow, nobody in 1999 could ever be deluded into a shooting spree by a game from 1993.

3. Videogames have as much depth as any movie or book if given the chance. Mass Effect discusses failed diplomacy, economic crises and racism. BioShock questions individuality asking you almost personally about your own actions in life and gaming. Fallout 3 discusses racism as a large point in the game of opposing sides on what IS the greater good for everyone.
They're all so high about GTAIV that they consider ALL games to be like that, which is unfair and generalising, and would be exactly like saying all movies are like Kill Bill. It's stupid isn't it? Even GTAIV has some story and it's a first in the series even for giving a more sympathetic character rather by having a desperate immigrant ruined by the lies of the American Dream and forced to keep alive through terrible deeds, instead of the selfish pricks of before like Tommy Vercetti and Claude.
