Indeed they did. The final report published by the US government made no mention of videogames as a factor in the killings, because there was absolutely zero evidence that videogames were a factor in the killings. As other people have pointed out, one of the odd things about the killer's behaviour was that he did
not play videogames. But Thompson continues to employ this lie because the vast majority of people - at least those he's trying to reach - don't know the truth and can't be bothered to discover it for themselves. They'd rather have someone like Jack, who must know the truth of things because he is a lawyer after all, tell them what's what and just roll with it. I was going to mention it in the post, but eventually you have to draw the line. There are so many lies involved with everything that man says and does that you simply can't call him on all of it.
One thing I've figured out about him, though: Tunnel-visioned, yes, and psychotic, possibly, but don't make the mistake of underestimating his intelligence. Jack Thompson is a lot of things but unintelligent is not one of them.

Unfortunately, the videogame industry can't afford to throw around the cash the way the tobacco and gun lobbies do, so our influence won't be quite so... influential. But it's a good start.
