Anyone else played it and is a little dissapointed that they scrapped a lot of good ideas from JA2 ? the combat is nice but the militia is beyond retarded (8 guys with M4's and spectra vests can't defend against 5 aholes with pistols and axes ? come on...) and i'm not so sure about the inability to repair armor ever... I know irl you can't really "fix" a bulletproof vest but neither can you fix your rifle in the middle of combat unless it's just a jam... They intended it as a money sink since there's no more salaries for your mercs (pay them once and they stay forever) but i'd prefer something like having to replace the plates in the vest rather than replacing the vest itself...

Also, the price tag is pretty high for an "indie" game (40$) the devs are listening and patching stuff in but this isn't a 40$ game...

I have to admit the updated graphics are pretty though, and the plan-and-go system works quite well (think rainbow 6 planning mode)

Anyways, comments? :)

I got to say that I find Back in Action to be more up my alley then the original JA2. I always had some trouble reconciling my differences with JA2, especially its' awkward interface and extremly spikey difficulty level. BiA sadly also has an awkward interface, but the difficulty level feels more even.

I've yet to feel the huge hit of the militia system though, from my experience the enemy prefer to target a few specific locations (Cambria being a particular favourite it seems) and I've just taken to keeping a squad around in Cambria that can repel attacks. As for the vests, I would have prefered if you could buy armor plates to repair them with instead of having to continually switch them out. It would even have been as simple as making the plates one time use items that repaired depending on how many plates was in the "plate item" (ie. one plate, half set, full set or something).

Sadly (or happily, depending on what you thought of it back in JA2), snipers are still as dominant as ever. I'm having great fun by letting "Buns" murder everything with her PSG-1 on any even remotely open map. It comes at the expense of the rest of my squads leveling though.

My personal biggest gripe so far is the insane amount of micro required to have more than one squad active in a sector. 12 Mercs can put up serious firepower, but it is awkward to have to manage them each individually in P&G.
