Of course not. It still requires permissions to install. The manufacturer just allows you do what you wish with the hardware you buy rather than be overly controlling. It allows for a much more individual, customisable, well suited and, with the correct direction, more flexible and usable OS.
Of course, if one is daft enough to install a virus or allow it to install itself, then it's their own fault...
