James Cameron recently said in an interview that halo fanboys need to stop trashing his latest movie Avatar. He says that they keep complaining about Avatar being too much like Halo and that he copied the series.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Cameron has had the idea of Avatar since 1996.

Not to mention that the basic idea of Avatar is basically the same as Pocahantas or Dances With Wolves. It's an old story in a shiny new 3D wrapper. But I don't blame him for criticizing the fanboys; Halo is not the Alpha and Omega of entertainment.

Why does he actually care?
He has enough money to actually pay someone to not care for him.

'94 actually
The only inspiration from Halo might be the chopper-dropship things.

The helicopters and flying gunships look almost exactly similar, but its really just generic futuristic machinery. Its not ripping off Halo, the vehicles just look like Halo because they're both standard looking.

edit- after reading the article, apparently James Cameron invented the style of futuristic vehicle that is now standard. There is really no argument that Halo fan boys have to complain about James Cameron.

Style, not story. Dances and Pocahantas look nothing like Avatar. Or Aliens, for that matter.

Wow, didn't know Halo fans were "that" fucking retarded...0o

Saying it ripped of DWW at least will get you labeled as captain obvious....Halo fans weren't even able to manage that...0o

Truth is they're just pissed Halo missed the chance of being made into a epic blockbuster movie...so they're taking it out on Avatar....lol

First of all, a hearty laugh goes out to "Halo fans" criticizing anything.

Secondly, the bizarre argument where uninformed people call something a rip-off of something else which in turn was inspired by the original creator is always a wonder to behold.

An even better current example is when people complain that Bayonetta is a "rip-off" of Devil May Cry when they have the same director. This is tantamount to complaining that Pulp Fiction ripped off Reservoir Dogs.

Too much like HALO? the only similarity is the marines. Plus humans go to the halo to stop it from blowing up the galaxy not to find a valuable resource. The covenant are an aggressive race and they attack. the navi aren't they are more peaceful. before i use to think that Fan boys in general need to get wiped out by a massive virus that kills them slowly and very very very painfully but gawd, this is sad now. I kind of feel sad for fan boys now, they are soo stupid.

Wait, they're complaining about the style of the air/gunships?

I thought the vehicles in Halo looked like things from Terminator...

Hah, that's exactly what I was thinking. Shit, he could make probably fund an entire comittee out of his pocket specifically made for that rason.

OT: Realistically though, neither Avatar or Halo are really original to begin with.

THISSS^^^^

They are not original, any of them. halo on the otherhand is bland, avatar had way better characterization and deph. dough thats saying allot because avatar had prety superficial characters for a Cameron movie.
