August 21st is apparently 'Avatar Day', when we will finally get a proper trailer of what is being whispered to be the best sci-fi masterpiece in around 15 years.

The toyline and game will also be revealed on this date.

In case you have been living under a rock for the last few months, here is the official site:

http://www.avatarmovie.com/

What little detail there is on the web looks really exciting, the advances in 3D tech, the story, James Cameron and Sigourney working together again...

There is always a danger of overhype, but let's not forget this is the man who gave us Aliens and Termnator 2, so I for one am allowing myself a little optimism.

Is anyone else really psyched about this movie?

And has anyone actually seen any stills or footage from it? At all?

Any thoughts about the movie here!

I'm cautiously optimistic. I'll wait for the trailer before removing the Caution.

In the future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran, is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Those from Earth find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture.

Anytime I hear the word bioluminesence (ubisoft e3 spotlight) I get exited, however the majority of his movies were highly mediocre, I'm a bit at odds about this one...

The hype behind this movie is insane to say the least. I mean seriously, a countdown until they show the TRAILER? If this movie doesn't revolutionize film making as we know it AND sweep the Oscars, then it might live up to the current insanity of the hype.

Pray they don't spend the entire movie going 'Hey! Listen!'

"a paraplegic war veteran"
so either the main character is in a wheelchair or can just barely walk and then gets a miracle from their technology and he's a normal human being again! he then feels indebited to become a better peacekeeper between the humans and them. Jame Cameron will probably play off the fact that in this case, the humans are the aliens and we are the invading them.

Sounds a poor movie being overhyped. Also Cameron seems to want to have sex and get married with the movie. If that Ubisoft press conference at E3 told us something is that he likes to much this movie.

He's been working on it for a trillion years, give the guy a break.

My favourite things of mine are what I worked the hardest to get, such as my Custom Mountain Bike, its made from Scandium and cost 1050 pounds, I had to work really fucking hard to get the lock off and for that I love it.

Pfff so? Peter Jackson worked almost a decade into bringing The Lord of the Rings movies and he didn't "masturbate" his creation till exhaustion. When Cameron stoped talking about the movie at E3 I was already tired of the movie and that was the first time I heard about it!

Its still not his baby, Lord of the Rings isn't his story.

James Cameron's whole career adult life has been in trying to make this film, its his mona lisa, its his bayeux tapestry, its the thing he's worked so hard for so long to come to life, its his baby.

Its why he's so psyched about it.

The movies are his baby. The movies was something that was never atemped to do. To bring Tolkien's work into the bring screen and so far the best shot was a animated movie that wasn't even finished.

Say what you want bringing Middle-Earth to life is a far more bigger project than Avatar or even Titanic!

It may not be his story but it's project. A project far more complex in all aspects than Avatar.
