So, I just got this survey in the mail from the "Government."

United States, yeah, I live there, and they're asking about some future career choices, but it sounds shifty.

It's done by some people who are named, like the subject says, JAMRS.

The icing on the cake is they sent me a random $2 as an incentive, which probably was dipped in crack cocaine.

Is this legit or what.

If wikipedia can be trusted:

I've never heard of this group, but the want for a social security number alone makes me more than dubious as to their intents.

Doubtful this is legit, was there a number on the survey? Also, perhaps run a check on Wikipedia or Google?

Yes, they sent a literal $2 bill which are out of print in the United States.
Well...could you give any information about yourself, is your current job something that would make you valubal to the goverment.

Also, whats the date on the survey? Is it from 2010?

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but it looks like they don't actually ask for it on the survey or anywhere else.

Either way, it says it's optional. It probably is legit, seems like it, I may just not end up doing it.

It's just for politicians to decide where funding goes, and what kids want to do later.

And no, I'm not employed, I still go to high school.

It's just a survey to find out what jobs kids are looking to go into.

The Wikipedia article says that they're building a database for Selective Service. JAMRS is a marketing organization. This suggests the database they are building is for the purposes of producing more effective recruitment campaigns. They'll probably use it to produce recruitment posters, commercials, and internet ads. The tactics that the on-foot recruiters use may be adjusted according to this information as well.

Whether you think that's good or bad depends on your politics. Personally I'd toss it in the waste bin. I'm paranoid about giving out info when I don't have to, so I enthusiastically adhere to the "optional" part when it's offered.

First, Wikipedia is not reliable as anyone can write anything in there and it does not have to be true or even exist.

Since when does the Govt. send cash? have a p.o. box, and it is not, I repeat, not, legit to do business this way; thus one considers that there is a red flag waving.

Enjoy the $2 and spend it wisely.
