Here ye, here ye. Come one and all. The Escapist has an Art competition for you to compete in.
Time to vote. Cast yours for the finalists here! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.86909]
The Idea
We here at Escapist like to think of ourselves as superior. As mentioned before, we are elitists with pancake. In jokes aside here is a chance for any of you to pit your artistic skills against each other. Whether you're a writer, a photographer or a sound engineer. Feel free to enter.
Judging goes by two rounds. The first decides the 'best' two submissions from each category listed below. This round is defined by a panel of people selected for the job. The second round is when the community as a whole goes "Oh wow, those are amazing!" then tries to pick the best three out of all the first-round winners. It's a tough job, but that's up to you, Escapists. Votes for this will be posted in a separate thread.
Remember: working in an unusual category gives you a greater chance of getting through the first round.
Prizes and winnings
I'm afraid I can't offer badges to winners, but I can say that you'll get fame and perhaps infamy within the Escapist community. Beyond that? Who can say.. there might be fans involved.
How It Works
Below are three things. A prompt, a theme and a motif. Your submitted work should be inspired by the prompt, involve or be about the theme, and feature the motif. The more original the combination of the three, the more likely it is to be appreciated. Get your lightbulbs going.
Skill at the medium you're working with is of course important. Do your best, and good luck.
Submissions must be posted as replies to this thread, and please PM me a direct link to the post as this is also a place for commenting on them and it can get a little convoluted.
Guidelines
-Nothing which is unsafe in a work environment.
-Make it original, please. Feel free to use stock images etc. but get permission from the artist and actually change them in an original fashion.
-List sources for stock and the like. A bibliography of sorts.
-It's no problem for the submission to be confronting and thought provocative however don't let it get out of hand. Tasteful stuff please.
-Your work MUST be submitted into one of the categories listed below. Choose one, and stick with it. There are no restrictions on the number of different mediums you can use, but the one you put it into should be the most prominent eg. A painting with some sections sketched in pencil is a painting rather than a drawing. It's certinally not a soundscape, if you get my drift.
