Jane Austen MMO Sensibly Seeks $100K On Kickstarter

That sounds like a game I could get into. The tiered payment model is especially appealing and entirely fitting with the game.

If established MMOs like WoW & co can barely provide people with functional player housing, this game is going to need a lot more than $100 000 to create an engine where anyone who drops a fifty spawns with their own village.

I must say though, the potential for griefing in a Jane Austen game sounds hilarious. "Dude, don't go through Middlesex. There's some guy there dropping reputations by claiming he's slept with everyone's mum."

You could role play as a soldier who sleeps with people's 14 year old sisters, or a grumpy, awkward git!

Or play a clergyman with designs on marrying one of your cousins.

OT: I think this has some really great ideas. Nothing I would want to play (I already HATE gossip in real life, and without honor duels, this would be unbearable for me ;-) ), but I am really intruiged by the game design ideas they are tossing around. This is definitely something new. I will keep my eye on this.

I wonder how long the "Immersion" will last when the Zerg and griefer guilds bum rush the "Extravagant" Balls with hordes of prostitutes and naked homeless ppl.
