Hm... yeah, sure, why not?! I'd have no objections if most women would take the initiative, or "lead" how they call it, i like that, brought me to some funny and thrilling situations. Also, more gay males, let me be "prejudiced" here, i think it would mostly affect the insecure, would mean more options for me, while i'm not looking in a particular direction, so it's a win-win!

Oh and not to forget: fuck "normality", sry, no better way to put it.
I could also add something like "Grow up and grow some guts, for goodness' sake", or i could mention "women taking the lead is unnatural, but ever-bouncing-boobs are? haha, yeah - think about it, if we could just utilize this physical phenomenon, we could have access to a never depleting energy-source!"

Well, back to the basics i guess, i'm going to watch "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" once again...
*I'm just a sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvaniaaa*

Honestly, i'm simply to tired of this topic right now to give an elaborate reply. Just one thing fascinates me, how the japanese culture is able to somewhat create a compatibility of the modern and the traditional, technologie and ritual and those sexist double standarts. I know, some people already mentioned it, but it's still a mystery to me.

Not that surprising IMO. These are the people who think that the natural act of a man and a woman having sex should be censored....but a woman being raped by tentacles THAT'S PERFECTLY FINE!

I'm not against censorship in general...it's just that so often the people in charge have completely F'ed up standards.

I am... this is.... I don't even... Fine, whatever. It's Japan. Just let Japan be Japan.

I love it to bits, but let's face it: Japan is a wee bit bonkers.

How do you prove to a person that what they perceive as "logical" and "reasonabe" is, in fact, flying monkeyfuck insane? Because I have no idea whatsoever other than shouting that fact at them loud as I can. And I know that doesn't work at all.
Google "Debunking Handbook." It's a PDF produced by a couple of psychologists from the University of Western Australia that gives simple instructions on how to talk to people who believe ridiculous myths.
Unless the method is punching them in the face I don't think it's going to work. The crazier/dumber something is people believe in the harder it is to convince them it isn't true. That's a scientific fact.

A culture where porn ranges from 'she was asking for it' to 'raped by demons' objects to women taking the lead in sexual encounters?!

Shocking.
Actually, it is shocking. It's like being in support of the gleeful killing and painful deaths in Manhunt whilst and then taking issue with the swearing in Conker's Bad Fur Day. That's an absurd stance to take. And I must say, this thing you're doing, where you can rap about art objectively UNLESS sex is involved* is pretty much the same feat of compartmentalized thinking that allows censorship like this to happen.

Oi motherfucking vey.

*And you DID just shit your brain. You've gone and suggested that someone who with likes rape porn must be so against real women's empowerment that ze would feel the need to control the range of actions that they can be portrayed as taking in fiction.
Eh, the sarcasm was more directed towards it not being surprising. I wasn't suggesting it was an acceptable view.

...wait, wha~???

How does this, I don't even~???

Okay, I have to admit, this made me laugh... a lot more than it probably should have. It's just that seems so ridiculous of a notion! Is there any actual proof behind it or are they just saying this to "make the world a better place"...

Manga: "...a medium considered by some to be art."

Water down your views much Escapist?
It's got more chance of being considered art than video games. Oddly just saw Dean Winchester trying to make the same point.

Interesting read and good points. This is why it would be nice to have a link to the original comments so you could see what context there was. Thing is if the worry is about media depicting 'aggressive' women abusing men, then turning men gay. Why is there no worry about all the current media depicting men abusing women, then turning women gay. I belie this is even more prevalent a disparity in actual Japanese porn, but no-one there is bothered. The idea that it is only depictions of aggressive women that are a problem, still comes off as sexist whatever the context.

Ugh, another example of why I hate Japanese society. This is yet another facet of the sexist mindset that sex is an activity to be enjoyed by the man only, and that a woman "gives" her body to the man as some selfless sacrifice. No wonder that their society is so sexually repressed, if it refuses to admit that sex is a mutual partnership rather than a one-sided act. It's times like this that make me think that the US isn't really that bad after all.
My wife is Japanese, and she hasn't "given" her body to me in quite some time. I call foul.

Its hardly all of japan that is like that, really most societies have a view of women that is they are beneath a man, hell, even after the sexual revolution women are still struggling to get equal rights and they still regularly earn less then men, feminist is practically a 4 letter word since conservatives have done such a good job of demonizing it. Plus its not reasonable people that get assigned to things like this, its the more conservative and weird elements that get put on things like this.
I can't speak for everyone, but from my perspective, feminism has gotten its current bad name from the outspoken, hardcore, man-hating, feminazi bitches that we keep hearing about. Never run into one myself, so I have a feeling they aren't as common as the internet makes them seem. Classic feminism notion of equality? All for it, as long as it's really equality that they want.
That's why I am not a big fan of feminism, to be honest, the really outlandish feminists just grind my gears. I consider myself to be a humanist, equal rights for all, not JUST the advancement of woman. That's how I see it anyway.

While the claim made by the committee member seems odd and ludicrous, I don't think the idea that sexually aggressive women making boys fear them is entirely out of the question. This phenomenon seems like an experiment to test out before it is worth signing a law regulating its depiction in Japanese media, or throwing the idea out completely.

I would be more worried about futanari making the kids gay.

I have a love/hate relationship with Japanese drawn erotica. On the one hand, when they actually draw adults, the end result can look nice, if unrealistic. On the other hand....a long list of truly disturbing fetishes(lolicon particularly) and sexism. Why do women often look as if they are in pain or unhappy in live-action Japanese porn? Why is so much of hentai/doujin porn rape?

That said, feminists have a negative reputation largely because of the actions of Gloria Steinem, Andrea Dworkin, and the Women Against Pornography group. For a long time, these feminists were the most famous in the world...and rather than dealing with actual discrimination against women, they wasted their time faslifying rape statistics, (Gloria Steinem claimed that 3/4 of all women are raped by the age of 20. Her basis for this was a survey where 3/4 of women at age 20 said they had sex they regretted.) claiming it was an inherent crime (a violation of human rights!) for men to watch pornography of consent and mutual enjoyment between men and women, on the grounds that watching a work dedicated to sex was somehow inherently degrading to women, and Andrea Dworking even claimed it was mysogynistic for men to be attracted to traits specific to females, on the grounds that being attracted to female specific traits(such as only wanting to stick their phallis in a vagina, as opposed to a rectum or mouth) inherently reduced women to lesser status, even though monosexuality, both heterosexuality and homosexuality, is based on an attraction to gender specific traits, among countless other acts of stupid bigotry.

Sadly, the arguments of the Women Against Pornography group still exist today, with a vocal minority of feminists claiming it is inherently sexist for female characters to be designed to appeal to heterosexual men. Case in point: The recent "Skullgirls" debacle.

What a pathetic little man that committee member is. I wonder if he watches lots of rape-themed porn to make himself feel better about his own inadequacy? or perhaps he's having thoughts about other men that make him ashamed and he's in denial and lashing out?

Ok, i'm being unfair but no more so than he. Seriously, anyone afraid of a sexually aggressive woman has some major problems.

See, this bill has the same fundamental flaw that SOPA did, it's worded way too loosley, if this man (who is clearly braindead) was able to pull this, someone over here could have done something similar.

Also some people LIKE sexually agressive women. Ah, rule 36, what would we do without you?

BTW, I'm conservative, and frankly I'm insulted that people seem to think that I'm sexist. Why is it that political parties are always judged by the complete nut jobs in it? I don't think that all Liberals are stoners that are completly detached from reality, we're not all cowboys with dual revolvers and a minigun in the backseat.

That's okay, Japan. You can send all of your sexually aggressive women to me; I'll take good care of them and find them homes. Now where'd I leave the phone listings for all my single friends...?
Well, that's awkward. I was going to suggest giving them my number... Pistols at dawn?
Do gunblades count? I can promise matching scars and emo vendettas....

Okay, well I think we have reached a consensus here that for the most part guys have no qualms with sexually aggressive women. Personally I know that I don't.

More like the reactionary mindset of the dinosaurs in government. Hardly representative of Japanese culture as a whole. You're neglecting the fact that a lot of hentai involves sexual humiliation of men too.
