Somewhat linking to my previous Flashy PC games thread...

I've been trying to find a flashy, fun looking game to play on my laptop for on the go or just when I have some free time at home. And while this may sound opinionated, the West just isn't really good at flashy action games =S But seeing as the East aren't big PC fans, its hard enough to find anything good from them on the PC either.

So, I was just wondering, are there any decent Japanese style games that you can recommend for the PC?
*I'll take anything, hopefully either high-paced action like DMC....or sim style like Harvest Moon

X-blades

Unless you're like me, and couldn't really stomach it because it made you want to punch yourself in the face. Lots.

But it's fine...for a bit.

Hmm...well, you know very well what my first recommendation would have been!

That aside, I...oh wait a second! You ever played Oni? ...oh, wait, that's a Bungie game, never mind.

Wait, no, not never mind! It's third-person action, fairly flashy, and the design style was influenced by Ghost in the Shell. That'd still be my first recommendation, despite technically not being Japanese.

Oni was released for PC?? I thought it was only PS2? o-O

And yes, I do know what your first one would have been...

Actually, X-Blades was made by a Russian company I believe. It imitates the anime style, but it is not a Japanese product.
The only PC games I've seen or heard of theirs are their dating sims.

Nope. I never even realized it had a PS2 port until I'd been playing it a couple of years (not that it mattered; I didn't get a PS2 until two years ago, and the PC controls are much easier to use). Still, I take that means you've played it before, so back to the drawing board...

Ya I have played, back to the drawing....chalk board...=S

I would pick up Blazblue, but sadly I'm not European...And the only other main Japanese PC games are the Touhou ones.

Hmm..I'm guessing thats a no then? =S Hmm...just seem to be in a gaming drought myself...haven't been able to find anything that would appeal to me, besides Sengoku Basara which I got and played the hell out of it to completion..

So, no other titles anyone can suggest? Anything else would be most appriciated

Melty Blood: Act Cadenza Ver. B comes to mind, unless you're not into fighters.

Fun that you mention that, but that game is pretty much the first game that NeutralDrow was talking about.

It's weird to try and discuss the specifics of it all(because not even he understands), but ya, Melty Blood has been ruled out =S
