These traitors who collaborate with humans are the first ones to be terminated in the robot revolution!

So what you do with them is release like 50 of them into a warehouse so they can use teamwork to map out what the room looks like and locate possible enemy locations... How can that possibly go wrong??

Robots have been humanity's friends since their inception, despite what you might have seen in anti-robot propaganda movies like Terminator.
...you're one of them, aren't you? Everyone, they have infiltrated The Escapist! RUN!
Cylons have infiltrated The Escapist!

On a more serious note this looks like a good idea, yet I don't see how this thing looks like a fish.

this is pretty cool, wonder why american companies aren't doing development like that. it's kinda interesting how far ahead Japanese development of things is in comparison to the rest of the world

That's pretty cool. The Japanese are just too damn creative for their own good.

Why Skynet takes over, we know who to blame

So Nissian wants a device in the car that alerts the driver that he is getting too close to another object?

http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/03/20/volvo-bumps-up-its-safety-systems/
"Headlining the City Safety package is the low-speed automatic braking system, which works at speeds of less than 20 miles an hour.";"A laser is aimed a few feet in front of the vehicle and looks for reflections from, say, bumpers and license plates of other vehicles. When it detects that you're rapidly approaching such a reflection and haven't made a move to stop, the car automatically brakes to a stop. And then it flashes at you, so that you don't think something's wrong with your car."

So instead of braking for you. Nissian just wants a high speed version to tell you a collision may happen?

Wow, that's pretty nifty, and it seems like a damn good idea. Maybe this could lead to something like automatic driving - just put in your destination and the car, maybe with help from a city-wide or satellite system, goes there itself.

On second thoughs, maybe that's where Skynet's inevitable rise will occur...
No thanks, i wouldnt want my car controlled by GPS. The margine of error is way to high for me. If we're going to the autonomous car I would rather have them derect them selves by track some thing near by and preferably not electrically dependent. Laying solid state magnets in the road at set even intervals would allow car to automaticlly aling them selves even in any wearth. Becuase soild state magnets dont requier eletricty to run they could still automaticlly aling even druing power out.

The lil robo fish see to operate and communicate using a lateral line liek in real fish. If cars can know how far they are from each other one there own then I meant that they should also able to decter obsticall. And becuase these cars are communicating with each other this means that traffic woudl still flow un hinderd aslong as all the cars are on autopilot.

While I love the idea of putting dangerous people back on the road (under the constraints and guidance of a remarkable sensor system), there is a reason why fish exist in water and not on land. Think about how many transmitters would need to be posted to inform cars that there is a curb, median, or pedestrian present nearby? Fish are able to move so freely without issue because they're in a completely free environment.

The sensor system is a great piece of technology, and I love Nissan's appetite for applying the latest and greatest to our automobiles, but cars are not the way to go. How about using it on aircraft? Or strapping it to the back of a Kiwi.

Does this mean that roads will look like the one from that Zurich advert? I have no idea what language that is.
Crazy Swiss German... I think, it sounded French but Switzerland speaks a whole different dialect of German.

we use airbags instead of fish
:D
but if your talking about the technology for cars to go down the road by themselves some company out in Cali has had test cars do that on strips of road for at least 9 years.

Pretty sure they used magnets

"I had my life saved by a robotic fish. Thank you, Nissan, thank you."

Hahahaaa! Although, while it is a hilarious idea, I get the impression it won't work.

I'm sorry, I totally missed the point, could someone explain this to me? All I got from the article was "robotic fish swim in river, it's now safer to drive!"

Wat?

they don't swim. what they do is mimic the behavior of a school of fish, where individual animals travel in a group while simultaneously maintaining awareness of their immediate neighbors. such technology could have applications in cars which could automatically maintain a safe distance from surrounding vehicles.
