MK has decayed a bit over the years, I reckon this is the proverbial hand in the chest it needs to get back on track.

I guess it doesn't really matter, but it'd be nice if the actors could actually fight, if only a little.

I thought the 'pilot' wasn't bad (a bit to gritty/edgy for my tastes) but I've always thought that MK was one of the few games to screen adaptations that actually worked and didn't need a reboot (except maybe to erase the memory of the MK2 movie). If they had chosen to do this with Street Fighter, now that is a franchise in need of a decent film adaptation.

As far as Jeri Ryan, it is nice to see that one of the more talented members of the Voyager cast (no I'm not talking about her ability to defy gravity) is on board and will give the role some authority. Michael Jae White, on the other hand, although he will be as watchable as always, will never surpass Black Dynamite in my opinion; that film was awesome.
