After months of waiting we've finally gotten an official release date for Marvel's Jessica Jones, a Netflix original series set in New York in the years following the invasion of New York by aliens in the international blockbuster The Avengers.

The release date is a little far off, being November 20th.

Personally I'm excited about this. My being a fan of all things Marvel (Fox and Sony's work notwithstanding, of course) and my enjoying Daredevil more so then pretty much anything else they've ever made, I'm excited to see what they do with Jessica Jones even if it stated to have a very different tone.

I do question why both she and Luke Cage are getting their own series though, one would think they'd just have the two star in their own series given their relationship in the comics.

Well, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones's relationship in the comic books (Married with Children for those who don't know) is a direct result of the series they are adapting to make Jessica Jones (Brian Michael Bendis's amazingly good Alias.)

In that story Luke Cage was a minor character, someone Jessica knew but only because she was currently working as a PI in the same area he did his Heroes for Hire thing. If I recall correctly he only appears three or four times in the whole story, each appearance only a page or two and are more there for character building moments for Jess than anything for himself.

If Fallout 4 hasn't completely engulfed me by then I will definitely watch this. Daredevil was really awesome and I hope this one is too.

Of the four planned series thusfar, this is the one I've been looking forward to the most based solely on the original comic which was frankly excellent.
Granted, all four of the planned shows had me nodding happily with approval, but this one stood out.
