Jimmy Fallon, late night talk show host and former cast member of Saturday Night Live has just convinced me to get CoD:Black Ops at any cost.

He played through a small part of a level on his show tonight and it looks absolutely amazing. I know it's only a small part, but it has me excited for this game. I don't even care about the multiplayer. I just wanna fly that helicopter.

So, what do you guys think? Does this help you in your decision as far as buying this game or passing on it?

Well, I wasn't what you'd call a fan of MW2 (same with quite a few people), and that killed my interest in the CoD series altogether.
This, on the other hand, has really piqued my interest.

It looks a bit like WaW, with the jungle parts in the other trailers, and the helicopter bit looks bloody fun.
Looks like someone's done something right at Treyarch!

I flew choppers in Nam, and let me tell you, kid, that's not what it's like. When you're in the air with Reds shooting at your from all sides, you know you're in the shit. When the bullets are tearing through your cockpit, you hear them and see them ricochet. That's the only time you truly feel alive - when the cold hand of God could tear your life away at any second. Seeing that video, I didn't feel alive at all. I felt as dead as all my dead buddies from Nam who haunt my nightmares.

It was cool, though, they respawned in 20 seconds. Note that when I say "Nam", I mean Battlefield Viet Nam and nothing else. But my point still stands about how that video doesn't feel very visceral or alive to me. Hopefully, it's still an alpha, but watching the video on full-screen with the sound on just gave me the feeling of watching a turkey shoot, rather than a tense flight through very hostile territory.

that's not funny dude. Seriously people died there.
Well, the subject matter of my comment is a video game based on the war. I'm not trying to mock or demean people who were actually involved in the war, and I don't think my comment is any more insensitive than the fact that multiple video games are set in that war. Do you think that the Vietnam war is too recent to use as the basis for a video game?

Well, if it has the Jimmy Fallon seal of approval I guess we ALL have to get it. Afterall, he is Americas barometer of what's worthwhile and what's not.

Jimmy Fallon being associated with something automatically makes me like it less. There are no exceptions. I hate him.

Well, I guess you like gaming, tv, and comedy less now.

Eh, I'm not really too impressed, to be honest. I mean, it looks solid enough, but not particularly spectacular. Granted, they've got until November (is it?) to tighten it up, but I'm not particularly happy with the way CoD has gone recently and I don't feel like putting any money into Activision's pockets unless it's really a stunner that I can't afford to miss.
I agree, I just dont really see the appeal in this new game, the helicopter looks a little interesting to fly, but its probably gonna be a one to two time thing and get repetitive if they do it over and over again.

A bunch of people are saying it looks like CoD WaW. Guys, that is not a good thing. I have recently been playing the single player with a friend, and it is not that impressive.

Also, I doubt most of the crowd has seen a video game been played for more than a few minutes. To them, it was probably mind blowing. I wonder what they would think of something as technologically advanced as a game like Alan Wake or Bioshock (Only games that come to mind)

It's just more CoD. It looks exactly like MW2, but there's jungle bits in it as well. The graphics, the HUD, the gunplay, nothing looks new, and I suspect nothing feels new either. A resounding meh.
