Currently on the fence for Payday 2, just need the people to setup a crew and off we go, but most of my friends are just waiting for a Steam deal to happen. As for the ending... why the Duck Tales music? Now I will never be able to play the damn thing again xD

Now that I think about it I think an 8 person mode where 4 play as the robbers and 4 play as a Swat Team would be cool to see in PayDay 2.

No, it wouldn't. Any experienced player would tell you it wouldn't. And Overkill also doesn't think it would and they don't want to waste time on that kind of non-sense.

I would not get kicked for it because I would not do it online, only offline with AI teammates. In fact I most likely would not play this game online unless friends of mine also had it.

The cops and robbers game mode would only be nonsense if they just did a mediocre job of it. Add depth, complexity, and tactics to it and I think it could be a fun mode. Give players on both sides the ability to send private messages to each other before the game starts and each side could try and bribe one another. If I was on the robbers side I would promise a member of the Swat Team half my take if they were to not take me down and instead take down my associates instead.

If they were to do it right I am pretty sure the developers could make that mode great.

Whilst your idea is a sure fire way to get a kick right up your royal arse; an idea has sprung to mind about how interesting it would be if the human players were actually playing as undercover cops as part of a larger group and the job is to successfully pull the heist, avoid any innocent fatalities whilst avoiding the suspicion of the gang to lead you to their hideout. THAT sounds interesting.

I would not do that online though. I would only role-play my character as an undercover cop offline.

OT: Yeah sorry state of game industry but the AAA market will die off (well the bad ones) and make way for a new generation of developers and self publishers. Whether we will mourn the loss of some things from the AAA making companies I dunno, depends if they ever let go of the copyrights or just use them as leashes.

It's more up to the players if they want to gun down innocent civilians or not but if I was to play Payday 2 and one of my teammates was hurting innocent civilians I would not hesitate to take that player down.

Personally, I include the cops with the innocents. I don't think the game gives a choice about gunning those down.

The best way to do each mission is stealth with 0 kills(even a few achievements for it). Beyond that, if you kill a cop or civilian it causes harder cops to show up quicker. So you're more encouraged to keep the body count as low as possible.

There are a few missions where the cops are on to you from the start, and you just have to kill or be killed, but taking civilian hostage instead of killing them helps you.

I realize even with these points, the game is still pretty fucked up. But it doesn't especially encourage killing people so much, its more about stealing. That's the moral area where its shameless

One more thing I have to say.

GTA comes out, and the media swarms over it being a horrible game for your kids.
Mass Effect is released and the media swarms over it being a Sex Porno Game that will corrupt your kids.
Modern Warfare is out and the Media blames various murders on kids playing the game.
Payday 2 comes out,a game LITERALLY ABOUT ROBBING BANKS...........and I haven't heard a single thing about the media going all over it for influencing our kids and making them want to rob banks in real life.

Is it bad that I am just waiting... EXPECTING... for the media to turn on Payday 2 in such a way?

Nothing has happened because Payday 2 didn't have a marketing budget twice it's development budget, so no TV commercials for TV reporters to see. I'm mean, did you think these people actually did research?

I've heard about Payday 2 but I haven't really looked into it, mainly because I'm still absorbed by the Fallout games.

But looking at Jim's gameplay of it, I might check it out. Looks like a lot of fun. Always nice to see a game dev NOT get screwed over when all's said and done.

Also, and I'm not saying this in an accusatory or derogatory manner but because I'm legitimately curious: Is Jim gay? I'm not sure if he was saying that as a joke or not but is he? It peaked my curiosity and I just kinda wanna know.

Payday 2's on my want list, but moreso after the female character(s) get added. Huzzah for inclusion.
It seems like a great game regardless from the demo I played. Seems like one of those rare games I have a gaming medium that can handle it with bots, and a class system that means more than a different way to do what everyone else does.
Classes with strengths and unique objectives.

Also, thank god for sex toys, and thank god for Jim!
