Jimquisition: Why Do People Hate EA?

People are far to entitled in modern gaming, so when something pops up that they don't like, its all ire and fury. It's best not to forget that if it wasn't for companies like EA, we wouldn't have some of the games we love. But that's just my opinion.
ps: if anyone feels the need to reply to this comment, don't start by saying "by your logic". I'm getting sick of morons saying it. Saying "logic" doesn't make you sound smart, nor does it make your opinion any more valid.

But, by your logic.... whine whine... EA are evil!!! Their business practices are the evilest, they like give your cancer and force you to hand over all your money... whine, whine. etc etc, for 1000's of posts.

People really need to get over themselves - especially the author of this weekly font of whining.

Jim, I, like you, used to take pride in playing an EA game, knowing these were people who care about QUALITY PRODUCT and HAVING FUN, like with the old Medal of Honor titles and Command & Conquer. Now their moves are forehead-slappingly dumb.
Also, I like how you uses clips from the new Syndicate game to illustrate your point on EA's corporate incompetence. I almost forgot that was made by EA.

OT: The only reason why I don't like EA is because of the freakin' lame excuses of a game they've been releasing as of lately. They've got potential, yes, but they're too busy being cynical pricks that they don't even bother. It's the same reason why I'm starting to dislike Square-Enix. And I LOVE Square-Enix. Only it works in reverse for them; they're being too dumb dicking around doing whatever instead of releasing a game worth getting without a single regret.

Anyway, here it goes...

Yeah, I'm probably a size S for girls...but eh, I'm greedy. I'd wear it anyway as a gown or whatever. Or for sexy showers. With a loofah. And pillow fights with fellow girls. On a hot, summer night. In the dark. While dressed up as Master Chief.

I can't help but feel that this entire discussion is pointless. I wonder of many people in this thread have bought EA titles, and will continue to do so. I would guess quite a few.

So unless Jim actually want us to form a murderous mob and go knocking on EA's door (at it almost sounds like he does), about the only thing we can do to send a message to EA that we're not okay with this "anti-consumerist behavior" is to quit buying their products. And we all know that's not going to happen. So what's the point?

Perhaps I'm just jaded but EA's been the devil of video games for quite a while. With all their games they just continually vomit forth that are super hyped but suck bad I just try my damndest to not buy from them(of course that doesn't always work...). I never really buy many Activison games so I can't really comment on how bad they are.

Thanks Jim. I was a little unclear about why people actually hate EA and this video helped me understand. The only part i disagree with is the part about them trying to make an MMO to compete with WoW. I actually like Warhammer online: Age of Reckoning a lot better than WoW.

What games are those? I'd assume if someone damages your hobby you'd be angry at them too and EA actively harms gaming as a hobby by practising strategies which only serve to give them small gain in the short run and have damaging, long lasting consequences in return

Anyway as for your last part that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. When people use the " by your logic" argument they are throwing back your arguments in a different scenario to show how dumb it is.
Its not used to make anyone sound smart, its used in arguments to show the fallacies present in the oppositions argument. Which does in fact help making someone's opinion more valid.

The only thing you presented in comparison, is the buzzword "entitled" ( something which you no doubt got off Kotaku or IGN, because they are the ones that spew that nonsense, just an FYI it means nothing at all) as if it actually means anything.

Great Jimquisition, my only problem with this and most of his and other shows that rant about company polcies is that its basically us just circle-jerking because there is no way anyone of influence at EA is going to see this or care.

My biggest surprise at all of this is IGN running an article like that. Would it really be hard to post some kind of forum thread to gather opinions and use the intelligent, thought-out looking ones as some kind of basis? Even if they're going to talk with EA about it in the end, they could at least be armed with some opinions from actual gamers and they could ask EA to respond to those opinions instead of just broadly asking EA talk puppets why people hate them.

Command and conquer was made by westwood, when EA took over apparently things all went down hill, westwood basically got disbanded, and ea made C&C generals and onward i think. (cancelling the sequals westwood was developing).

Certainly not all bad, but i feel it would have been better had they not gone in and stepped all over westwood studios. The red alert and tiberium series of games were both meant to tie in together, i was looking forward to seeing how they would do it, but EA went in a different direction unfortunately.

I think maybe jim might have slightly missed the point of asking EA. I think the reason they did it was so that people could then compare what EA think people don't like about them to what people actually don't like about them, so we can see whether EA is actually on the same page as everyone else.
