Well, Silent Night has already begun playing in Wal-Mart so we all know what time of year it is: Christmas Shopping Season! *groan*

This is an open discussion on Christmas shopping: your love, hate, or disinterest in buying crap for all your whiny cousins. It can be gaming related or not, but if it is, this is not a forum on what you want for Christmas (not that anyone here would buy it for you anyway).

I work as a cashier at Wal-Mart (hence the groan and the apathetic title) and look upon the Christmas shopping season the same way I look at getting shot.

How about you?

I work at Gamestop and people keep asking for the Wii Fit, they get so pissed when we dont have it in stock. My fav part is the mother who dont what they are looking for and expect me to tear thru the whole store to find the game their little spoiled brat of a child wants for christmas.

I worked at a Supermarket last year and at Christmas everyone got so rude! The only good part was I worked a long shift next to a hot chick who was getting all excitable because we had an organ and choir singing, walking around and handing out food to staff.

Anyway Christmas Shopping Blows, Amazon to the rescue!

Without wanting to restart the 'Customer is Always Wrong' thread, I had a kid in yesterday wanting us to remove the windows so he could get the item on display.

Seriously.

I look at it as an extra £170 a week on my pay check. !.5 time thank you very much.
To be honest at christmas the problems don't really change, it's still people trying to buy things that don't exist, arn't released yet or they're underage for. Just theirs more of them.

Although the next person to ask me for Wii fit will be stabbed, with a rusty fork.

I moved to Nottingham about 6 weeks ago, and half way through October, the Christmas decorations were already up.
Love Christmas, hate the 2 month build up to it and the shopping this entails...

I never worry. I also try to avoid shopping at Large shopping centers death-dealers.
Smaller stores in malls or out on the Downtown strip do just fine.

Yes we get people in all the time asking for Wiis and wii fits. Then they always ask if you know when you will get them in why don't you have them instock where can you get one etc...... Ugh. We got about 200 wiis in last month. Sold in 1.5 days.

I also work at Game Stop and I have a funny Christmas Story to tell.
One night a few weeks ago, a woman came in and asked if we had Wii Fit in stock. We had just got some in that day and they were on the counter behind me, so I pointed at them and told her, "Yes we do!" She then looked at me in shock (I guess she didn't expect that) and walked out with out buying one.

Christmas shopping is made entirely bearable for me, just because they have started selling Mince Pies again, (my favorite food). Who are they to dictate to me when I can eat certain foods?!?, Food Hoarding Slimeballs! But seriously, do as much shopping as you can online, before the start of December.

Shopping wouldn't be so bad if more people were aware of a marvelous new invention called deodorant, it doesn't cost that much people. And I don't mean instead of a bath either, wash your ass first people, don't just hose yourself down with AXE and head out, that just smells like someone broke a perfume bottle in the garbage.

the absolute worst thing about working in retail at this time of year is the non-stop christmas carols

although occasionally you do grab something special like "Thank God it's Christmas" by Queen or "Christmas time" by the Smashing Pumkins, more often than not its a load of the same shite over and over again, namely Mariah Carey

if month == november AND
if shop_decorations == 1 then
set bah_humbug = 1

I hate jingle bells. Actually, i hate all those damned christmas tunes. I'm far more grinch than santa fan, admittedly, but I despise my ears being asaaulted by those awful excuses for music over and over and over again every time I have to buy groceries.

Small children should be kept on leashes if they absolutely must be included in a shopping trip. I'm 6'4. If your 1'6 hellspawn runs in front of me while i'm walking, i'm not going to notice until after i've trampled it.

christmas really does seem to bring out the worst in me. Repressed memories ftw?

I dislike shopping in general, and the spray of red and gold at christmas time just makes it more irritating.

Consumerist fuckers.

Huzzah for being not Christian! Wishing no offence, it's just that this Christmas shopping rush is kinda ignored in my household. I do love after-Christmas sales though... mmm, 50% off...

I saw big Christmas displays back in early October this year. The first thing I saw last week at Woolworths was a woman shovelling wrapping paper into her trolley. My Mum said to me that she'll give me $200 for presents the day after that.

It's seeping earlier into the year, I swear...

I agree with you on that, every year the Christmas shopping season gets closer and closer and you could even see Christmas decorations in August.
