This current one I have no. I am fed up of managers lying during the interview and screening process. What am I complaining about?
So this is meant to be a new retail store opening up. So items will need to be stacked. That's fine I thought. Wrong. As soon as we arrived, "GET TO WORK!". No, introduction that includes fire exits, safety, heavy lifting, manual handling training. No PPE (gloves, boots, hard hat) because the boxers we were carrying were heavy and the pallet trucks were moving around the area a lot and shape and exposed shelves everywhere. Barely any room to move which is highly illegal because if you tripped over and hit your head on those shape shelves, that's it. It did lead to a very serious incident. There is about 8 "managers" there giving everyone a million orders at once and yes it's too much chefs in the kitchen. If you try to tell them something they don't want to hear it and say "Stop standing round and get back to work!". 5 hours of heavy lifting straight without a break, and others were scared to even ask the boss for a break too. 10-12 hours a day, even a Sunday. No work contract was signed by the way before anyone started work. Illegal right?
Even as I am writing this, I am thinking to myself, should I post this out. I'm just going to sum up and say, there is a reason why we have rules and regulations in the workplace when it comes to safety and well being of staff and customers. Some employers just wish to bend the rules in a dangerous way to suit them.
