Jocks vs. nerds

Well, this is a website full of nerd/geek culture, and there are several people who have admitted to enjoying sports. In fact, there was a thread sometime this past month about American Football.

I might be a rarity in that I didn't get bullied during High School and I also don't like sports at all, despite my entire family constantly telling me that I needed to play football or baseball. If anything, I enjoyed playing basketball the most.

Meanwhile, tell your commissioner to fuck off. Which anime was it?

I agree with him though: tell your commissioner that it's your team, you can name it whatever you like. It doesn't matter whether anyone but you likes the name, because the only person it's being named for is you, so you're the only person who matters when it comes to naming the team.

Also, remember this: nerds outnumber jocks, and are smarter than them. One day the commissioner will pump your gas.

I never really had this "JockvsNerd" divide around me, most people respected me for being tech savvy and my ability to draw, and I respected others for social skills and physical prowess.

as stated im in a fantasy football leauge with my friends who are into sports and i, the only one being into anime decided to name my team something anime related. the commissiner told me i had to change it beacuse no one else gave a shit about anime in this leauge.

Both demographics are equally fucking stupid in their own special way, although I'd be more inclined to respect somebody for their ability to run a marathon and talk to girls than their sweet Magic deck and lax hygiene habits.

Luckily, most people fit somewhere in the middle and are perfectly nice. I wouldn't try to push weaboo stuff on your friends, by the way. It's an acquired taste, and people who don't like it tend to really not like it.

Don't think everything is a jock vs nerd thing, some anime fans are a bit overzealous and it can be annoying to others, but I don't know the OP so I can't say for his case.

Never really dealt with that issue as I just kind of stayed on friendly terms with most of my classmates. Some were of the jock stereotype but it wasn't that big a deal...

I dealt with it all through high school. It left me with a very negative reaction to anyone who likes sports. You may think it's wrong to hate people I don't know for a reason like that but they have to stop supporting the stereotype I hate about them.[color=f7f7f7]They always criticize how I spend my free time and what I enjoy. I live and work on both sides of this spectrum, and I do it to stop the stereotype. I'm a science nerd, and a former state champ in martial arts who works in both a lab and in a sparring ring. This kept and keeps people off my back.
Of the battle of jock vs. nerd, nerds will be the bosses, Doctors, etc. and the future belongs to them.
