Well not officially but I think its interesting. There is a major rumor floating around that Joel Schumacher will be writing a twelve issue year long Batman series for DC. Except its not just any Batman series. He will be apparently revisiting Batman: Forever and Batman and Robin as well as writing the unmade Batman: Triumphant which would've been the 5th movie in the original Batman series.

Supposedly the idea is that it will be his original vision for the movies that was shut down by Warner Brothers because of the controversial Batman: Returns. Joel Schumacher has repeatedly apologized for the Batman films, but has stated he is actually a fan of Batman and that Batman Triumphant was meant to take the character back to the darker roots he had in the original Tim Burton movie.

So what do you guys think? Personally I think, if there is any lingering grudge, we are at the point where we should let it go and forgive the man for those two movies. Given that he is a fan of the character I'm actually excited to see what his real vision would've been. While Spider-man 3 had the unfortunate meddling of Sony they only forced Venom on Sam Raimi and Raimi tried to make it work as best he could. Where as it seems WB forced the entire production and tone aesthetic of Joel's two Batman movies and he couldn't make it work. (Gee its like a film studio forcing a director to go against their vision can cripple or ruin a film).

Whatever your feelings though its sure to be interesting and almost kind of novel in that the 5th original Batman film is in the scenario of one of those "lost chapters" type things.

Is he bringing back the Bat Nipples? If so, I'm on board.

I'd be curious. Maybe it's just from me being a kid when I saw it but I loved Batman Forever (ICE TO MEET YOU!!!!!....so many puns!). Batman & Robin not so much but I'd be interested to see what he could do with it. Although I suppose no matter what, there's virtually 0% chance I'd see it since I don't really read comics/graphic novels...

EDIT: I was wrong. Evidently I liked both of them. I thought the one with Arnold was the one with Tommy Lee Jones/Jim Carrey but that's both the movies and my childhood brain is having crossed wires.

So you loved Batman Forever so much that you don't even know which movie it is?

Batman Forever was the one with Riddler (Jim Carrey) and 2 Face (Tommy Lee Jones). Batman and Robin was the one with Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman).

That sounds like me. The one with Arny is the one I liked. Also, I liked the one with Jim Carrey because I liked him as the Riddler. So I guess I liked both of them and am confusing my childhood movies with each other.

Maybe you should rewatch them as an adult. They're basically unwatchable (although Batman Forever is slightly less unwatchable). Clooney is the world's worst Batman.

And this is coming from someone who also liked those movies when I was a kid (but I would have liked anything with Batman as a kid, no matter how terrible).

Oh I am 99% sure they're God awful movies. I just loved them as a kid and don't wish to ruin the magic of my childhood by realizing how bad those movies are.

Poison Ivy tries to get Batman and Robin to kill each other so that one of them can pork her while Arnold tells more ice puns? Sounds terrible. In fact, that idea....should be ICED!!!

I....I can't stop the ice puns.......[small]help me[/small]

Personally I thought Batman Forever was the best of the 4 films. I'm curious to see that he actually has in mind, cannot be any worse than Frank Miller's last attempt.

Schumacher's Batman movies always confused me. The titling I mean. The movie that introduces Robin to the series is called "Batman Forever". And the movie that follows that is called "Batman & Robin". What the hell? They should've called Robin's intro "Batman & Robin", and the FOURTH and FINAL movie "Batman Forever" - emphasis on the FOR ("four") part of FOREVER. Come on execs, how did you not see this?

They had to make sure that Robin's appearance was a surprise, a twist as it were, even though everyone could see it coming a mile away and it was in the trailer. Joel Schumacher was the original J.J. Abrams.

You know, I think the more carefree medium of comic books may be a good fit for the Joel Schumacher version of Batman, it may even allow it to gain a new level of appreciation.

Wait, so they are finishing off the pre-pre-reboot Batman? Huh.

Anyhoo, I liked Batman and Robin. It was a mindless action film with OtT villains. Not seeing the problem.

It's OK, tippy. You just need to take a chill pill. Don't take too many or you might break out in a cold sweat. Or get one of those annoying brain freezes. Might I suggest some Icewind Dale? Whatever you do, stay frosty, my friend.

I'd be interested to see his original idea's for Batman Forever, I do actually enjoy that film, far from great but it is enjoyable. From what I've heard it's original cut had more darker moments, which would of been interesting next to the OTT of Carey's scenes. As for Batman and Robin, well just how much can you polish a turd?
It wasn't a complete turd. He did more or less design Nightwing's current costume sans and nips. Still probably the most interesting part of this is that he will actually get to make Batman Triumphant. Which would've featured a Scarecrow Harley Quinn team up. Though Harley in this version would've been the daughter of the Joker. Which that is about as stupid as anything else in comic book films at the time when back then just putting these characters up on screen in a respectable form was good enough.
