Okay, yeah, it's a bit of a joke, but I also think it speaks to the man's enduring fame that the mere fact he's doing something, even though we have no idea what, is worth talking about. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but look at it this way: If, a few years from now, this turns out to be the first public step toward the creation of the next Doom (figuratively speaking, of course) then we'll be able to say, wow, we were there, and we've got the snide commentary to prove it.
And I always thought Daikatana was more a victim of extreme overhype than of any real awfulness. Anyone who says it's the worst game they've ever played is fortunate that they've never played any actual bad games.
