They never hunted in packs, they had feathers, they were the size of chickens and dumb as a chicken.
Actually, I'm fairly certain we already have an idea of how intelligent the real world Velociraptors would be.

I mean Eagles and Falcons aren't that stupid (and we've successfully domesticated both for use in hunting).

So an animal the size of a turkey, and the smarts of a Falcon. Yeah, I really hope the wrangler knows what he's doing.

Seriously, who cares how this movie compares to the others? They were all pretty dumb.

All I've got to say is: Dino-bros? Yes please! And I will indeed have fries with that!

I'm on the fence for this one. One on the one hand, Jurassic Park 3 was not a good way to end the series nor was it a necessary sequel IMO (Lost World was OK but rather flawed). So I'm hesitant to give another sequel a shot. But this trailer has me curious with the theme park now open (wonder if that seas world dino scene was poking fun at Jaws), the mystery dinosaur, and Chris Pratt and his Veloci-Detective Squad!

Not my photo, someone else has to take the credit for that.

Also, there is a quote from Linkara that sums up Chris Pratt's fame perfectly.

I might give this a one-time view at the theater and see if its worth multiple views.

I hate to be pessimistic about this but I kind of am. I'll still see it though and leave ultimate judgement 'till then.

Franken-dinos... seems to just be the franchise giving itself licence to create whatever dinosaur-like movie monsters they want to, (Alan Grant was right.) Doesn't seem too big a step given the original's casting of Dilophosaurus as three foot tall poison-spitting frilled lizards - in fact that being the case you wonder why they'd bother having franken-dino as a plot point - but still seems lazy. I mean dinosaurs are badass on their own and there are plenty you could go with as the big bad without just making up your own, (I hope the T-Rex makes an appearance though.)

I also feel kind of "meh" about the casting of Chris Pratt. Nothing against the guy, he's just the generically handsome actor-du-jour. Thing is characters like Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm had actual character, back-stories, lives beyond what was presented on screen. And the actors were chosen to portray that. Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum aren't your traditional action/adventure actors but for a palaeontologist thrust into dealing with escaped dinosaurs and a narcissistic mathematician who considers himself a rock star they were perfect. Bob Peck wasn't a well-built "hero" type either either but as a wiry and experienced big game hunter tasked to dealing with dinosaurs he was great, (Pete Postlethwaite kind of carried this on in the second film.) And Richard Attenborough was a film great so there's not much you can say beyond that, (sadly neither Peck, Postlethwaite and most recently Attenborough are around any more of course.)

As far as I can tell Pratt's character "Owen" is just "protagonist". He doesn't seem to have a last name and is the park's "velociraptor expert" because of course the raptors were a fan favourite. It's the kind of decision that was probably made by movie executives and accountants rather than creatives.

Of course I'm going to give the film a chance but I can't help but have misgivings. Trailers are mean to showcase what the movie will be like. Compare this to Age of Ultron which got a lot of fans excited. This trailer to me, a big Jurassic Park fan, just makes me wary and concerned that I might be about to learn first-hand why people were so upset with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Tame raptors? Glowy-blue command centres? Genetically engineered super-dinos? There's just a lot that doesn't seem right.

Oh well. Surely it can't have anything as embarrassing as the talking raptor dream bit in JP3.

Why would somebody reopen the park and bring back more giant predators? Did they not hear about the last 3 movies' events?
What? That there was an outbreak and a T-Rex run rampant through a city after eating a few people and a dog? Noooooo, that never happened you see..." Yeah, you'd expect someone to know about that, but dat money though.
People keep saying this. The producers aren't *entirely* stupid. You know there's going to be a scene akin to:

"It's too dangerous!"
"But now we have the technology to make it safe!"
They already had the technology to make it safe back in the first movie, Newman just cut the power out.

I was reading online somewhere that the genetic hybrid is going to be a mixture between a cuttle-fish, Tyrannosaurus Rex and possibly a raptor (Or something akin to that). It's supposedly smaller than the T-Rex in the film, but as I read "Can camouflage" the way a cuttle-fish does.

So yes. Premise is a bit shaky.

However, since the first movie is the first movie I ever saw, kinda have to go see it.

Also, if anyone could find the article I was reading to verify what I was saying would be cool.
If you are engineering an animal for a zoo why would you make able to camouflage itself?

You've absolutely nailed why I found the first film so enjoyable, and the reason for my scepticism for the latest plunge into Jurassic park. Obviously Pratt's character may well be end up being fleshed out, however his main strength is clearly 'handsome strong action protagonist.' The characters in the first were so engaging because they were so real. None of them were a typical action hero. they were scared and cautious, unsure largely how to handle the Dinos. Pecks character was the closest we got to that, and like you said, not the 'well-built "hero" type either'

Obviously I must largely reserve judgement until I see it, however, and super dino doesn't currently appeal. Dinosaurs are scary and impressive enough as a threat. Genetically modified seems to me to be a touch silly and unnecessary.

That being said, it's a film about dinosaurs running around eating people. Everyone is a sucker for dinosaurs running around eating people! I'm probably going to enjoy it in a 'Pacific rim poor story, all action film' way.

Uh... People do remember that it was all Dennis Nedry's fault for shit hitting the fan in the first JP movie, right? Sure, they were still some dinos that had that antagonist mindset from our perspective, but most of them were behind safety shit that, because of Mr. Nedry, did not stop them from running loose like the T-Rex...

With that said, still hyped for this shit... I honestly don't care if this is suppose to be a sequel to just the original movie (since it doesn't seem like it is or isn't from the trailer to my knowledge), a reboot of sorts, or just the new JP4 in general, this movie already had me once it showed off the positives of the park itself and sold me with everything else...

Also, Margaritaville...

The raptor's better know how to speak English and use witty one liners when interacting with each other and the humans.
