Don't thank me, thank Susan Arendt for mentioning it at every opportunity.

I recommend Disgaea 4... but keep in mind it's not a game everyone will like.

Why do people ALWAYS leave out this little gem of a series, Motorstorm!

It's a fun = racer, that goes from easy a fuck to controller destroying hard at a very gradual pace. Race everything from a big rig or monster truck to a motor bike or ATV, all with there own strengths and weaknesses.

They are very pretty games, especially apocalypse.

Another chime for The Last of Us.

It's one of the best games of this generation right at the tail end, and the best swan song any console could ask for.

Simply astounding!

If you like Japanese and artsy, don't mind some pretentiousness, have never been exposed and want a mindblowingly awesome and complex story spanning 25 years and 7-8 games, jump into the Metal Gear Solid mythos. You can get EVERY canonical game (except Portable Ops, which is a bit of an aberration anyway) in the Legacy Collection for PS3 (http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO), going back to the original Metal Gear from 1987.

Pretentious artsy games? The only ons I can think about of that caliber are Flower, Journey, and The Unfinished Swan, but those are already on your list, so I can't really help you there,

I can, however, give you a list of some PS3 exclusives I would recommend to anyone.

Uncharted 1, 2, 3 - Action shooters that play like movies
InFamous 1, 2 - Super hero action games with parkour
Killzone 2, 3 - Perty shooters with bang bang explosions.
Resistance 1, 3 - FPS with extremely interesting weaponry (2 was an attempt to merge the series in a CoD direction. Didn't work.)
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, and A Crack in Time - Made by the guys that made Resistance. Funny third-person-shooter/platformer hybrid with awesome weapons.
Sly Cooper 4: Thieves in Time - Stealth platfomer with a great sense of humor and art-style.
LittleBigPlanet 1, 2 - You already know about these, but 2 improves on the base formula of first game and makes it even better.
Playstation All-Stars: Battle Royale - Want a good Smash Bros. clone? This is your game.
Metal Gear Solid Trilogy - Won't be out until later this year, but has every Metal Gear Solid game in one package. Stealth games with super-long, movie-like cutscenes. Bring popcorn.
Valkyria Chronicles - Strategy JRPG with B-E-A-UUUUTIFUL watercolor aesthetics. God damn the game is gorgeous.
Disgaea 3, 4 - Grid-based strategy JRPGs with great amounts of humor and epic attacks
Persona 3: FES - Highschool simulator where you have to make friends and kill monsters with a supernatural power known as Persona.
Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection - Some of the most beautiful PS2 games remade for PS3. Ico is a interesting sort-of escort quest while Shadow of the Colossus is entirely epic boss fights.
HD Collections for Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, and Jak & Daxter. The PS2 platformer trio never looked so good. Your chance to play every one of those great games in HD.
Demon's Souls - The predecessor to Dark Souls. Mind-numbing difficulty mixed with RPG elements makes for a great experience.
God of War Series - Hack and Slash on a scale of epic proportions. Main Objective: Eliminate the entire Greek pantheon. Have fun.
Heavy Rain - Another game that plays out like a movie. Focuses on 4 people as they try and unmask the murderer who's been drowning children all over town. An engrossing story that really emphasizes player choice. Can really make you feel uncomfortable, too.
Modnation Racers - Excellent kart racer in the same vein as Mario Kart. Think LittleBigPlanet as a Kart racer.

Hope this helps!

If you can locate it, pick up Heavenly Sword. There was just something special about that game. Also don't skip out on the infamous series.

Also: Starhawk

Most of the other games have been mentioned already. You can use the PS Store to find most stuff digitally now.

Go on PSN and check out Vanquish and Malicious. They're both under 30 bucks, and both awesome experiences. Short games, but so worth it.

Of course, it's an old game, so you probably already have it for your 360 if you like it.
Dude, nothing's old for me, I only got the 360 less than a year ago. I took a decade out of gaming to get married and have kids and stuff, and I'm just getting back into it. So thanks for the recommendation! It's all new to me, which is a pretty awesome place to be right now. No need to worry about next-gen.

Thanks for all the recommendations, people. I think I'll have to try out Metal Gear Solid since I've been hearing about the series since I was at school but never seen or played it at all. I see that Malicious is free on Plus at the moment, so I'll pick that up too.

I wish Killzone 3 was available digitally. In the country I live in, there's no used games market and new AAA titles cost $120 US. I am not making that up. Looks like I'll have to ebay that one and wait a month for it to come in the mail...

Weird how off the top of my head, my favourite PS3 games are ZoE:HD, MGS3:HD, Ico/SotC, Journey and Demon's Souls.
Sure I played other games, Infamous 1 and 2 was pretty good, but the games that had the most impact to me were re-releases of PS2 games I never owned (so no nostalgia goggles), an Indie game, and a niche title. Really says it all about this generation.

Honestly, the Uncharted-games are brilliant action-adventures if you're in the mood for something light-hearted. Nathan Drake gets a lot of shit, but I actually like the guy a lot, even if Sully is the standout character in the games for me.

The Last of Us is also absolutely brilliant. While the story is rather simple, the way they told it is incredibly compelling and it is also rather tense at times.

I can also wholeheartedly recommend Valkyria Chronicles. It's a turnbased strategy JRPG, and it currently holds the position of my favourite JRPG, even if Persona 3 FES is rapidly approaching the top spot :p
I was going to post these three.

I found Flower and Journey to be immensely boring but I'd suggest Okami for sure if you enjoy Zelda games.

I'd also suggest Uncharted 1-3, LittleBigPlanet 1-2, and Infamous 1-2 for the big ps3 exclusives.

So lots of people have mentioned The Last of Us, but to be honest I'm a bit bored of zombies now. Does it offer anything fresh that might overcome my general boredom with the genre?
