I got the game when it came out, and I was severely disappointed, and I've decided to ask the Escapists if they agree or disagree with my pros and cons of the game so far. Let me quickly state that as disappointing as some game aspects are, many are immensely fun, so it was definitely worth buying.
The cash system is pretty screwed up and it takes so much to buy anything and the missions reward so little even near the end of the game. At most you'll get 20,000 from a mission, and that's enough for a shotgun being delivered to you. You can find cash boxes around the world for a whopping 2,500.
The story is a bit messed up, you going into Panau to kill your mentor though not long into the game the story totally falls in on itself and opens up a completely different objective and that left me reeling... If you're interested in what happens maybe as the second Agency mission in the game, check the spoiler.
The weapon and vehicle parts littered throughout the island, and the few you get from missions, are a decent addition to the game. They allow to upgrade your weapons(that cost an arm and a leg at their most basic) and vehicles(which cost an arm and a leg at their most basic) and because you get 1-5 parts is every town if you're lucky you better pick a few weapons and upgrade them first, though the Shotgun and SMG are pretty annoying to unlock, which brings to me to another topic:
Chaos. You break everything in sight from Propaganda Trailers, which play inspiring music to brainwash people, and Gas Stations, which fuel up those nasty guards. Extremely fun parts of the game are blowing up everything in sight that has the Star of Panau on it. It can get tedious, but explosions and getting rewarded for it make up for that. Though causing these fun-filled explosions get you another thing: Heat.
Heat is GTA style 'Blow it up, cops up in your business' and these cops are the hardest to shake on foot if possible at all. The easiest i've found is to use the parachute to fly away from them, and even then with their scope-vision they can see me two miles away under a rock.
Collectibles are everywhere on Panau, but they're not worth mentioning to much about, since it shows you them on the map. So while we're on the map topic, let me say it's sprawling and beautiful. But being how big it is, you need to hijack a plane or copter to get anywhere unless you really like driving.
That's my rant about JC2, sorry for the huge post... So Escapists, what are your thoughts?

You do a brief mission with driving and shooting a bit, and then you go to find Tom Sheldon, who turns out to be working for the Agency but is undercover as a crime boss 'The White Tiger' and then the whole thing gets dropped rather quickly as if it never happened and then you have to kill the President of Panau and Sheldon's crime gang just drop off the face of the map as if they never existed.
