Just curious about Zerg (SC2)

Sort of a serious question. In Multiplayer, I'm pretty...well...mediocre at best, as I have a habit of it will take me some time, honestly to practice and become faster. Plus I know I'll never be one of the top 1000s, honestly because my hands just don't move that fast.

But...really, I love playing Zerg. Sure Terrans and Protoss have their great units, but I love getting a cluster of Roaches and Hydralisks and just swarming. Yet, I dunno, it seems I'm still a little slow...slow enough to where I'll get a strong force, but get taken down by guys who just seems to have me beat by a few seconds.

Any tips or tricks to get myself to go faster? Beyond the practice-practice-practice?

Hotkey your queens. Keep them near a hatchery. That way you can double click the hotkey and bam, you're next to a hatchery ready to make stuff. Hotkeying your hatcheries is a good idea too later on when you'll be focused a lot more on fighting.

Set up a cycle. Make Drones, Check Resources, Check Mini-Map, rinse repeat. Building up that habit will let you control your resources better, and make sure none of it is going to waste.
