I laugh a lot, just not as much on forums because a lot of the time they can be frustrating or take themselves a bit too seriously.

When I first started posting here it was mainly on R&P, mainly because I was blissfully unaware of the huge seas of religious and non religious colliding on the internets, and it seemed "interesting" to those who hadn't seen any of these discussions before, it was like 'Baby's first keyboard warrior training'. I got bored of it for obvious reasons.

Whenever I check there every now and again it feels nostalgic for me, because 2 or so years later it's the same threads with the same arguments with the same reasoning, all in one huge loop of offending, being offended and rage, endless rage.

Interesting question. I remember back in the day (not the day, the other day, no, not that one either) when the question was 'do we ever do anything that isn't fun? Do we have serious discussions befitting our place as the mouthpiece of the gaming generation?' Back in those days (for there were a few) it was all vs threads and the basement and MaxtheReaper.

But we clawed our way out of those dark depths with only a few stragglers trying to hang around our ankles and bring us down, and I put it to you, people of the Escapist, that we are a better community for it. A more thoughtful community, a more respecting community. A community filled to the brim with maturity, and equality.

So did anyone actually believe that? Didn't think so.

Seriously dude, you should have been here three or four years ago (Christ, has it been that long already) it was just chaos most of the time. I'll take the serious threads and occasional derailment by Daystar over the old days anytime.

OT: Yeah, I like seeing the silly threads every now and then, it's a fun step away from all of the super-serious stuff that seeps into every single news article or thread about any game that is going to be released or has been released in a ten-year period.

But this is a website that is primarily focused on having serious discussion about things, so I do understand where it's all coming from.

I always steer clear of any thread that talks about genders though. It's not worth getting involved in that flame-war waiting to happen.

I am a man of simple tastes.

Recently, the escapist has had a severe lack in comedy value. We've all got so serious. On another note I was mentally scarred when I was younger by seeing two Donkeys doing the nasty at the zoo, thats why I grew up so weird and like to go out at night time dressed as a penguin happy feeting people.
