I was like FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU all of Christmas last year and well into the next year, they had put this dangerous looking system of suspended televisions and other decorations that played the same 5 or so commercials over and over.

We were right next to them, and it was so awful we would be talking and randomly the commercial would take over, and instead of finishing our sentences we'd say something from one of the ads. I was never big on the idea of the whole subliminal advertising conspiracy crap until then.

Yeeeah, I had that problem too...

It was better then Journey though. If I hear that song one more time I'll make everyone stop believing. Compared to the various versions of that at least three times an hour Rocking Around The Christmas Tree isn't so bad. I mean at least you'll turn psychotic with a smile on your face.

Its the government man. They do it to make you keep buying not stop believing. Don't you laugh at me! I know a spell that will make you show your true form. Cave Rat taught it to me.

My fellow escapists, there's something I want to share with you all. I work at a grocery store and we are playing repetitive Christmas music for hours on end. I actually counted and the store played during my 8 hour shift:

We Wish You a merry Christmas- 27 times

Rudolf the Red nosed Reindeer- 24 times

Frosty the Snowman-21 times

Santa Claus is Coming to Town- 19 times

Sleigh ride- 18 times

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas- Lost count after 16

I think you get the idea. Needless to say, I'm sick of Christmas music. Does anyone have similar experiences? Also, if you know any Christmas music that won't drive someone like me into a homicidal frenzy, please share it. Thanks

Your not doing a very good job if you have time to count the number of songs. Keep busy, that should keep your mind off it.
I work in customer service and during weekday's its quiet. I have nothing else to do and can't leave my position. Oh, and the speaker is right above the desk I stand at so ignoring it is impossible
Nevertheless, if you have nothing to do, bring a book or a DS/PSP or something.
I asked, and we're not allowed to read or do anything else, except stand there or clean the counter top. It is mind numbingly boring at times.
Ah, that sucks. Isn't there a way to get them to turn the music down?

I kinda like the Christmas albums by Blackmore's Night and Gregorian. They have some songs on there that aren't played/sung as often as the usual ones. Some of those are on it, too, of course.

Then there's "Chiron Beta Prime", of course, "A pod-safe Christmas Song", or - although this could be unsuitable for in-store music - "Christmas at Ground Zero"

Oh hell yes - back when I worked retail the holiday season was my own personal hell, and I would come home to hear (you guessed it) even more Christmas music from my family. The difference there is I could yell at them all I liked and maybe they would stop. So far this year nobody has put any annoying holiday tunes on, so I have my fingers crossed that they'll just overlook that particular obsession this year.

Someone else asked that. needless to say, its impossible, something about being controlled by an outside source, I didn't get the explanation. We all just have to grin and bear it.

I haven't heard any christmas music yet, but it's sure to come soon. I personally like Silent Night, well composed.
But try headphones?

I work in a grocery store too i know what u mean. THANKFULLY this year they started playing the normal stuff from midnight to 6am where most of my shift lies. But the last hour is back to xmas music so its stuck in my head when I leave.

But the reason it's the same few songs w different versions is they gotta remain PC. Can't be offending anyone with songs about Jesus, who the holiday is based on. Dunno if I should be thankful as an agnostic or disappointed as a fan of variety XD

*sigh* at least it's only 16 more days of this torture.

Dude....i just started working at at local HEB Plus as a Night Stocker.
And needless to say, i feel your pain.

Though im busy enough i can ignore it for the most part, some of the music isn't that bad but still, it gets old quickly.

That's what happened to me when I worked at a restaurant, luckily I was fortunate enough to work in the kitchen and didn't have to hear it the whole time. I feel for you brother.

One time at a store I worked in they started playing them right after Halloween, there were so many complaints from the employees that they stopped though.

I worked in retail back in the day and Christmas music started the week before Thanksgiving. Ironically, we also had it playing when we opened our doors at 6am for Black Friday, in which there was no Christmas cheer. If anything, we should be been playing something from Slayer.
