Your not doing a very good job if you have time to count the number of songs. Keep busy, that should keep your mind off it.
I work in customer service and during weekday's its quiet. I have nothing else to do and can't leave my position. Oh, and the speaker is right above the desk I stand at so ignoring it is impossible
Nevertheless, if you have nothing to do, bring a book or a DS/PSP or something.
I asked, and we're not allowed to read or do anything else, except stand there or clean the counter top. It is mind numbingly boring at times.
Ah, that sucks. Isn't there a way to get them to turn the music down?
Someone else asked that. needless to say, its impossible, something about being controlled by an outside source, I didn't get the explanation. We all just have to grin and bear it.
Sounds like prison to be honest.

Only less humane; prisons don't have christmas songs.

My workplace is kinda the same. During December one of the cooks loves to listen to Christmas music all the time. It would not be so bad if the same Christmas songs were not played over and over again. I hardly ever hear my favorite Christmas song played on the radio. Luckily there are three radios in the kitchen and we are able to bring CD's in to listen to.

Are you allowed to bring in your own radio and CD's?

Dude, I feel your pain. I worked at a grocery store for a couple years when I was 19-20. Dear god, the Christmas music is torture.

The absolute worst:

I'd hear this shit at least five times a day.

I worked in a grocery store for 5 years and during those five years after hearing christmas music constantly turned off my christmas spirit. but what buged me the most was we would play CHRISTMAS music but we HAD to wish our customers HAPPY HOLLIDAYS so we didn't OFFEND anyone by saying merry christmas.
