Thank you, sir/madam, for making this otherwise tedious thread a pleasure to read with your comments.

Not sure I really have anything to add; I don't like the sex thing either, blah, blah, blah, people will do what they want, etc...

I just felt BloatedGuppy needed some props.
Sweet.

It's a good day when I can make to to 10AM with one compliment and zero people wanting to kill me.
I still get a good chuckle every time I see your avatar, does that count as a compliment? :3

Of course you do. Look at him. He's so jolly and friendly.

It's a pity I'm such an asshole.

Mass Effect exploits sexuality more than just about any other game
Their sexuality didn't define them. It was only one aspect of those characters. That's why I feel those examples are more acceptable for the general population.

That puts MMOs in a strange position. My Castanic Sorcerer isn't much more then someone who blows stuff up and wears skimpy outfits. I could create a deep character background if I cared for the game's lore. However, most people are choosing certain races and gender for no other reason then they are sexy.

Yeah, they were also defined by various female stereotypes [http://www.gamecritics.com/alex-raymond/beyond-gender-choice-mass-effects-varied-inclusiveness].

Getting access denied to that link at my work. Would you mind explaining your opinion?

Again another topic on an issue that no one would care about enough to discuss unless it was intentionally brought up.

Also I saw a comment on how it MUST be a man pushing all these art styles.
I'd like to say I know quite a few female artists some of which prefer to draw fantasy in a sexy manner rather then a realistic manner simple due to personal taste.

It's really what you make of it. I mean I CAN look at it and see something, attractive, disgusting, silly, childish, egotistical, etc. However a single perspective is just that.... a perspective.

Can I have a game where I can fire arrows or stab my blade into the exposed parts of the "armor" so I can get quick and efficient kills? That way you can have your nipple straps and everyone won't have to complain about how functional it is because everyone can exploit it.

I mean, what's stopping the monsters from cutting them in two? Really, there is ZERO immersion in the concept.

And scantily clad women in gaming is sooooooooo BORING. You know why hardly any games but niche titles like Dead or Alive exist? BECAUSE ITS BORING. People would much rather see better character development and storytelling, or challenging gameplay.

And in the world of high-speed internet and all the free porn a man could want, why is there so much desire for boobs to be in our video games? Whack one out to lesbian schoolgirls and go back to Tribes: Ascend. NOT THAT HARD PEOPLE.

It might be just me, but I don't think this is a question of "sexy" vs "sexless". Perhaps I'm in a minority, but I don't find itsy bitsy chainmail bikinis and tits the size of hot air balloons to be the living definition of "sexy". It's not about being PRUDISH. I'll defend the (voluminous) quantities of nudity in Witcher 2, for example. There's something very...juvenile...about the approach to sexuality on display in that Tera art. That's the issue. For me, anyway. I don't think it's evil, but it certainly invites mockery.

Oh come now, you're not an asshole, you're a big puffed up blowfish with often witty and intelligent comments on videogames. I'm just a jackass with a keyboard and nothing to do all day at work.

Just go all the damned way. Design a race of sexually rapacious italian underwear models with pointy ears and neon hair that're born 18, have a lifespan of 7 years, then vanish into a puff of smoke. They dress entirely in pasties (think a more chic/modern version of Adam/Eve wear), they fuck to do literally *everything* (gain sustenance, rest, meditate, learn, excrete, all of it). And they'll have a go with literally anything. ANYTHING. There is no hole too inhospitable and no pole too intimidating. But they can't interbreed. They only ever spread their own genes. That way if you knock one up/get knocked up by one you can look forward to being the parent of a bubbly short lived whore.
This sounds like the Videogame adaptation of Attack of the Pollinic Girls

You seemed to ignore my final say on the matter.

"It's really what you make of it. I mean I CAN look at it and see something, attractive, disgusting, silly, childish, egotistical, sexy, prudish, hot, normal, skimpy, mocking, juvenile etc. However a single perspective is just that.... a perspective."

There are so many perspectives that I see no reason to accept my own and reject all others. In my opinion each one is equally valid. Yes in we are both wrong yet both right. Double standards are in-moral not impossible.

Being super sexualized is one of the defining features in TERA. Its reached that point where changing it would be like removing an important gameplay feature or something, so many people have already bought this game for the boobs and butts (also man chests and metrosexual males with zippers only 1/3 way up). That may be considered as a good or bad thing, but don't act like its in every MMO ever.

I recognize the former picture from Pathfinder! Come to think of it Pathfinder's females all wear appropriate armor in the art. Go figure.

What? No they don't. See Seoni. Pathfinder Iconic Sorcerer.

However, I won't complain about Pathfinder in the same way I do Tera.

See Seelah. Pathfinder Iconic Paladin.

It's all about options, people.

THAT ISN'T HOW A SPINE WORKS
FOR FUCKS' SAKE
IT'S LIKE HER HIPS ARE DISLOCATED

I don't care how large the breasts are, or how perfect their curves are, I will even let the ridiculously impractical (and actually usually pretty unflattering) skimpy costumes slide, if they just MAKE THEM ANATOMICALLY FEASIBLE. It gives me the creeps. I've dissected squirrels with broken necks that looked like they had better posture than that female humanoid on its knees.
And I think the other one has some sort of deformity, its legs don't fit properly with ANY of the surrounding anatomy or each other.

I propose that they are in fact the unfortunate result of a secret and highly unethical scheme to mass-produce identical elf prostitutes, but they didn't use a large enough breeding population, and now the rampant inbreeding has produced these unfortunate individuals.

If you are going to pander, at LEAST make it aesthetically pleasing instead of nightmare-fueling.

P.S. BOOBS. YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. That is not what breasts look like, I should know, I have them, my friends have them, the nudists right outside my dorm have them. Those are not mammaries, those.... things... look like large bubbles that got trapped under the skin-like wallpaper you stretched over those INCORRECTLY ASSEMBLED TORSOS you probably bought from IKEA. It's not attractive, it's not enticing, it's just creepy.

That's not even the worst or most "in your face" of it.

This is armor. ARMOR!
Oh my... In all honesty most fantasy armor is stylized to the point of uselessness. For men they wouldn't be able to move under all that, let alone swing their giant phal... swords. I meant swords. But this has to be the most literal interpretation of the chain mail bikini I've ever seen.

Yes, this is a really good read. I like Hildes Soul Calibur design most. It is nice on the eyes and looks serious enough.
I don`t think a female Conan should wear lots of armor. I hate metal bikinis and there are other ways to show this kind of warrior type. Give her a shild and let her run around in boots and leather skirt. All for high agility of course.

The female barbarian from Diablo looks like she`s wearing enough for being protected while remaining speed. Looks right to me and i like that the designers gave her fitting muscles. Not my type but it comes with a bit of realism, instead of skinny, lovely ladys swinging around broadswords and battleaxes.

I`ve no words for Teras armor design since there isn`t any armor ingame, but news and threads about it are always a good read.
