After doing a bit of research.

It certainly seems the female outfits are geared towards the more impractical, seductive end, but it's not all bad.

Still, I'll never understand how not playing the game yourself isn't enough. Why people feel the need to get offended over such trivial things is beyond me.

Not true, I'd don't care for them either. Ok that's a lie, I do like boobs and ass, what I don't like is the gratuitous display of boobs and ass like in the picture in the OP.

Hate thing like this. The thing i hated the most about ME2 is the ridicilous outfits of Miranda, Jack and Samara. Especially Mirandas. It just completly bring mr out of the experience. Compare it to ME1, there everyone had armour.

Miranda: She likes her body, and likes showing it off. She's not the type to favor heavy armor anyway (It interferes with biotics?), so if she'd rather wear a comfortable(Hey, it's the future!) skin-tight suit, then let her.

Jack: She's a loud rebel who wears an outfit that's designed to show off her tattoos. She's the fucking most powerful biotic ever, so she doesn't need armor (Lack of a "Barrier" ability seems to be a gameplay oversight, since she uses it plenty in cutscenes), and she's the most powerful biotic ever, so she doesn't need to even wear clothes if she doesn't want to. "I can blow you all to pieces with my brain. Don't tell me what I fucking can or can't wear."

And Samara... Aliens have wierd fashion sense, and she's not as socially inept as Liara was. Even if she does have a stick up her ass. Also: Don't watch Star Trek.

Personally, I think the decision to give Jack no upper body clothing was more motivated by a desire for the game designers to show off their l337 tattoo work than anything else. By gaming standards, she's barely got any breasts to show off.

Miranda's stuff I can sort of accept, based on her personality (though I should point out I couldn't ever find it in myself to complain about it, no matter the justification), but she really should wear something different into combat as she's not as powerful a biotic as Jack.

And Samara... well, yeah, same as Miranda really, except given her personality you'd think she'd wear something boring and practical all the time.

Oh Emiscary, you and your casual suggested incest!... Hell, I'd still hit it.

OT: Honestly, if we're gonna discuss impractical armour then we could be here till doomsday!
Fact is its not going to change any time soon so why don't we just kick back, stick on some smooth jazz, and enjoy the view?

What, too creepy?
Alright, then I suggest an equaliser. How about giving the male characters costumes that are just as skimpy?! Yes, lets just imagine that for a second while I put on some smooth jazz.

Unless I very much miss my guess, that's heavy armor on top of that.

I know. It's so unfair. I want my big burly berserker to wear high heels.

What happens when she raises her arm? Doesn't the shoulder piece just shove her head sideways?

I'll never understand these enormous pauldrons. Some of the ones in WoW had lava pooled in them, or arcing lighting. Presumably so if you ever need to raise your arm you instantly die.

Pfffft, you're forgetting the magic of a fantasy universe allows for any inconveniently placed/designed armor to be in a state of constant flux: phasing out of existence should it be moved in such a way as to penetrate the wearer and resolidifying once it's free of obstructions.

Well, at least her shoulders and knees are covered. There'll be no Skyrim level mishaps here.

I always assumed it was a variation on hammerspace. If she moves enough for the pauldron to conk her in the head, the portion that would have hit her gets swallowed into a pocket dimension until the rest of it moves away.

You know, thinking about it some more, that could well be why they wear armor like that. It provides protection by virtue of automatically consuming incoming attacks into a pocket dimension so it can't actually hit them.

I HAVE SOLVED ANIME PHYSICS!

The reason they had lava and lightning and shit on pauldrons in WoW is the same reason pauldrons are used in 40k. The bigger/flashier your pauldrons, the more important you are. You can find a decent breakdown of the concept here: http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Pauldrons

The thing that i hate most is the animation. I don't mind the clothes as much (why does so little armor protect anything at all? MAGIC!) but the animations...

Does the mage HAVE to belly dance when they cast magics? Oh god..

I agree with the OP.

Either make a game clean or make pornography a big part of a game.
None of this suggestive crap without the actual content. It's false advertising. The whole thing is an unnecessary embarrasment now.

Maybe it's a defense thing. If an enemy comes close while you're casting you use a princess peach style butt slam to knock them back. Keep those hips gyrating to save momentum.

But then what do the males get? hyper pelvic thrusts?
