Meh, it's a pretty good movie. There's some segments I absolutely loved (like the relationship between Xavier and Magneto) and there's some segments that I absolutely hated (the beginning was really sloppy and awkward.) And because of that I sort of get this overall lukewarm feeling.

But yeah, if you're an X-men fan, then you'll love this movie. If you're just a casual (me) or not a fan, then you'll probably just think it's okay. The good news is we can check another successful super hero movie off the list, now we'll see how the others do.

EDIT: Oh and by relationship I of course mean best friends. This movie "subtly" made sure that you understood neither of them were gay.

not that the Internet is listening to that. Deviant art is probably already on it.

I thought it looked pretty awesome, so I might go and see it.

Really? I'd have figured it would be the other way round what with the glaring inconsistencies that other people have told me exist between it and the X-Men universe. I haven't seen it yet but I'd like to.

Okay, I haven't seen it (yet), but I'm not sure if you are being genuine. It sounds (looks? reads? appears?) really sarcastic (also, you aren't one of the older users, so I'm not expecting a '/sarcasm' or PLink text, which just makes it that much harder). So could you just clarify that for me. Are you being sarcastic (in the "Talk about homophobic!" way), or are you taking the piss ("It wasn't that subtle, but I found it funny that they included it at all"), or what?

Because the X-Men universe (or, really, pretty much any Marvel IP) is so well-known for its consistency.

Haven't seen it, yet, but I'd like to. Then again, I haven't even watched Wolverine yet, so there's always that.

I'm not really that much of a superhero fan but I think it's the best X-Men film so far, I thought there were some cool set-piece moments but tbh, I kinda only went to watch it because Michael Fassbender is in it. Such man love for that guy.

First class? I remember a show where they're teenagers. But does this mean they're in Kindergarten?

On topic, it didn't really draw me in. I liked the modern movies (Except the third), but this one just seems a bit... alternate.

I saw it on Wednesday (yeah, I live in the UK) and thought it was fantastic. Sure, they're doing a bit of retconning but what doesn't? I thoroughly enjoyed it. I definately agree, this is a good superhero film and the next lot have a lot to live up to.

Thanks for the opinion.

From all reviews i've read, this is pretty much the lowest rating given.

And i've the worst that people can say about the movie that it's okay or "lukewarm", it's probably really good.

And since i'm an X-Men Fan itching to finally get a new movie that doesn't suck, i'm have no worries.

No I'm not being homophobic in any way. I'm just making fun of the way Hollywood, again, "subtley" makes sure people understand that they're not gay for each other. Like there's a lot of girls in underwear, Xavier was pretty much a player in College, there's a scene where Xavier and Magneto are in a strip club together, etc. Because you know, people are stupid and automatically assume that two man friends without any love interests are automatically gay, so you have to include them talking about girls as much as possible so people understand. (And yes, that last sentence was sarcastic)

Cool, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Also, I'd like to point out that I wasn't asking if you were homophobic, I was asking if your sarcastic use of the word 'subtle' meant that hollywood was being homophobic and you could tell it fom their depictions of Xavier and Magneto.

I liked the movie overall, disappointed in just the pointlessness of everyone else besides the main 2 characters. Mystique turn to bad/evil was way too fast (imo). Also a bit too much hitting you over the head with this is an X-men movie, hey don't forget we're X-men.

<url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.289016-Marter-to-the-Movies-X-Men-First-Class>I really liked it.

But yeah, the beginning was a bit hard to get into. However, I think that on repeated viewings, the beginning will seem better.

Oh, and that one cameo was amazing. =D

They were probably on it while the roles were still played by Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.

It happened to Dumbledore, and it could happen to you!

I probably won't see it in theaters, I'm not big on blockbusters.
