A while back I watched the movie Equilibrium for the 2nd or 3rd time around and it got me thinking about something, something that everyone deals with everyday, emotions. Simple enough. Now in my thinking I realized something, emotions are indeed the cause of most conflict so in a way there is a negative in them but, they are also the driving force in so many great things in this world and set us apart from animals.

Now, this is not to say I'm an emotional person that will break down because you took the last muffin or something. I'm not. Trust me. I can't begin to count the times I've been called heartless, emotionless, soulless, you name it, chances are I've been called it. This was not always this way though, see it's something that I'm noticing in everyone around me as well, in today's society it seems as if emotions are almost forbidden, case and point, the student who was denied his diploma because he blew a kiss to his mother. At the rate we're going it seems that before long we may reach an Equilibrium-esque state of being in which we are all medicated to show nothing, and honestly I can't say that it would bug me all that much. I mean truth be told I got to thinking and it may be better off for people, no war, no hate, nothing of the sort. Now that's not to say that there aren't negatives involved, there obviously are, I mean you show any emotion and you get locked up or shot so I would call that one hell of a negative. There would also be a lack of passion for anything, no love for anyone, or any happiness in the world, simply a being, not a negative, not a positive, but a neutral, grey, being.

So what do I want from you? Simple. I want your thoughts on how you think a state of being like that would do. I want you to tell me how you would react if the government one day decided to create this state out of fear of war.

People should just act normally, not too much repressed amotion as you talk about, and not too much excessive emotion like emo-kids.

This is an "end justifies the means" debate. Does taking away civil liberties against the will of the people justify the millions saved from the lack of war? No. People killing people for god, country, personal gain, etc. is as natural as nature itself. To take that away from us makes us just shells.

Equilibrium is one of my favourite films...ever.

Personally...a world without emotion would be a boring world. The film industry would crumble instantly, And music would become redundant.

Although...There would no longer be any trolls...

I say we abolish creating ideas based on emotion, morals and war and the like;Emotions themselves are okay but nobody would be allowed to act on them.
COLD LOGIC SHOULD DECIDE EVERYTHING.
