Because of all the lives I've touched, I often go out of my way to help other people I'm an example of selflessness even when I'm in one of those moods where I wish everyone would just go away.

EDIT: Hell if whoever I'd be replaced by would do all this and significantly more go ahead and erase me anyway.

Ah, now it's getting interesting. 'course, the same line of reasoning applies. In order to be judged, the judge must be superior to the accused. This can never be the case when one is judged by themselves. Continuing on this train of thought, one arrives at the conclusion that one can never be limited by what others claim, their laws, and their ideas. The self is paramount, one's own desires justify anything, even harm onto others. To answer the original question as succinctly as possible: I do not exist because I think, I exist because I can.

Because I am a creature of reason, (whatever you may think of humanity, be it the smug: 'we're the best beings on this planet', or the whiny, pretentious: 'we're a parasite on the only known living planet', all humans are by nature creatures of reason, it is probably the only statement that it has been pointless to challenge the last 2400 years) thus my potential cannot be calculated since I'm able to act acording to free will.

This is the justification I would present a machine like a robot presented in the original scenario. If I was to justify my existence to a human my answer would be:

all the more reason. after seeing all the religious nutjobs who say 'i get to live cuz god says so' someone who lives for the opposite reason definitely has a place in the world, if only to keep the rest of the species grounded, with their heads out of the clouds that no, god's word is not enough to make the world a happy place.

And this robot believes it exists to judge peoples existence, therefor it believes your existence is useless and another sperm could have done something better unless you have done something to justify being. Touche though good sir! You put up quite the argument into this and a lot of thought.
