I'm going to produce a number of comics and animated shows to entertain the masses one day. I've already got a bit of a head start with comics!!

I exist because i am the best at what i do. No one else with my history and mindset had the balls to do what i do.
What do i do?
I'm a misanthrope that saves human lives. I am the genetic destiny of all oxymoronic archetypes. BOW BEFORE ME MOTHERFUCKERS!!

...hey, i'm about to get wiped from existence, might as well go out with a little flare.

I actually don't deserve to live better or more then the next guy. I havnt saved someone from dying, I refuse to go in the military, I havnt cured a global decease or stopped a natural disaster from happening and I will DEFIANTLY not die a heroic death.

Im simply human, it wasn't my choice to get born or grow up in the environment I did. but BECAUSE I was borne I and everyone els deserve to live their lives as best as they humanly can

Because despite what it may seem we are capable of much love and compassion.
That, or just talk to the robot while someone sneaks up behind him and shoves a grenade in his back, which contradicts my previous statement, doesn't it?
Oh, and for myself, I can easily make others happier.

Hey, I like Red Dwarf too!
I am an intelligent student. I help out the people who sit next to me in Math. I plan to be a creative writer, become fluent in Latin and possibly German, and I'm also taking computer studies. I want to keep my options open, so that I'm not a starving storyteller.
Also, I can play the guitar.
Eat THAT, Inquisitor!

I laugh at your pitiful attempt to force me to justify an act over which I have no control. Who is this creature that dares to ask me to justify my existence? I am, I have been, and I will be. Why came to be was beyond my control, though what I make of my life shall not be constrained by pitiful minds, pitiful creatures, and pitiful challenges. But more to the point, who are you to ask me? Justify that act! How are you superior to me? Are you the immortal creator of all that is? No? Well, have you overcome the limitations of our species, have you transcended what it means to be human? No? Aw, such a shame...

I'm with that guy.
Otherwise I would say that I'm smarter then that robot and rather a nice person. I think I would delete the robot.

I will be the next Teddy Roosevelt of America! Isn't that what you'd want?
Why Teddy? Franklin was much better. Seriously I think that was America's finest hour.

I'll answer that question with another one.

Why do I not deserve life?
Because you are wasting it.
Oh? And who defines wasting it? You? Me?

The point is that nobody chooses to be born, so why is there this obligation that we have to live a meaningful life?

Note: I'm not saying that I want to waste my life because that would simply be untrue but rather why can't we have the choice?

Note 2: I know i'm reading far to much into the question but i've been doing a lot of philosophy of late and can't really help it.
You're partly right. No-one is obligated to live a meaningful life, but just like all creatures we must know our place in nature. Humans (except from some crazy hippies) simply can't do that. That however is something we have to justify.

Woo! Red Dwarf! I commend your good taste, fine education, and fashion sense.

An interesting question! It's a question that in many ways says as much about the views of the person asking the question as it does the person answering it.

Given the situation presented I'd say that the question presupposes that life (assumed to be the subject's individual Human here on Earth) is a "good thing" (tm) ... something the person being judged would like to have and continue having. The assumption(s) that life is good (or even always, often, or mostly good ... or that even when the unique mix of good and bad of one's life isn't particularly favorable life can still somehow be made good by individual effort and perseverance ...) remain assumptions. Assumptions I personally believe to be as healthy and productive as it is illusory! Cling to those illusions! Embrace them! Believe them true and me wrong! They are good for you.

If put into this situation I believe my own response to the robot would be this: "I have done nothing to 'deserve' my life. I didn't ask for it. I didn't want it. I have no memory of being consulted before being brought into it against my will. If I had been consulted, and my memory of such pre-incarnation events is faulty, I heartily admit my mistake in agreeing to this life. While I've tried to make the best of my life - both by refraining from harming others, or myself, as much as I can and by striving to be a positive influence, where possible, in the lives of others - this has not always been easy. So if I am to be removed, I shall thank you, ser robot, kindly not to inflict my life on a currently non-existent someone who has committed no crime deserving of that punishment. Or, if such a substitution is entirely unavoidable, please restore the sense of personal belief in the fundamental goodness of being alive to that new me."

A little backstory on this first. After watching an old British Sci-fi comdedy called Red Dwarf, there is one episode where a robot makes people justify their existence and if they can't deletes them from time and space and replaces them with another life, one of the sperms that didn't make it to the egg(so to speak).

Anyway this bring me to my question. Members of the Escapist, justify your existence. Why do you deserve life?

EDIT: The robot takes on the persona of the accused, therefor you are judged by yourself. The robot also believes in no god or afterlife.
I remember that bit. "Oh smeg, indeed."

HIM: Well?

ME: You have to ask?

HIM: Yes, I do.

ME: Because you know an argument between us, that is 'me and me', will take hours.

HIM: Time has no meaning during this discussion.

ME: Convenient, but I can simplify this.

HIM: I hope so, because you tend to rant on a bit.

ME: Exactly. Besides, I've seen the episode, so I've given this some thought. The fact is that I am the center of my existence and it tends to work for me.

HIM: I forgot you'd taken Existentialism back then. So, you're basically saying that because things have gone your way, your current existence must be where it should be?

ME: You don't try to fix what isn't broken. And you know me, I'm an ungodly hell towards anyone or any THING that tries to disrupt my life. You're getting off easy because I figured arguing with myself still means that I'm right.

HIM: You know, I was suppose to take a contary position here.

ME: Yes, but if you're being me, you don't even believe I could be wrong about this. The you that's the time-traveling android chose this way of life, as did I. If a personal choice in lifestyle is wrong, then we'd both be wrong. You do what you feel must be done, and I feel that I am living well and deserving it.

HIM: *Sigh* Never argue with asshole who's taken philosophy courses. You may go.

Do you really wanna take that chance? Do you really want to get rid of the only guy who might be able to get rid off boneitis?! WELL?! DO YOU?!
I'm quite sure you have interrobang syndrome. You should go have that checked.

OT: I don't deserve it, but I'm still holding on to it because I like it when I accidentally gain something.

There?s no reason to justify myself, I?m simply here.
Life, existence, it?s not a prize. It?s more something we deal with and try to make the best of, if we can. Some of more luck with that than others.
