You stand before a being of some exceptional power who wishes you to justify your existence. Your own voice and personality is used to play Devil's Advocate on you, as nobody knows you like yourself. How do you justify the way that you have lived? DO you justify the way you have lived? And possibly...do you do something funny to the Inquisitor to make certain that you will not explode?

I'm still in college, I'd bring up the fact that I haven't had much of a chance to do anything of note yet, but I'm a very harsh critic of myself so that would probably not be enough, so I'd probably, try to get away in a very inventive fashion

by the way nice job making a Red Dwarf based thread...awesome

ha good ol Red Dwarf.

I wouldn't justify myself, as from experience the ones who do justify themselves are the ones who die until the end.

I'm stupidly apathetic, so I'd probably let myself off the hook.

I think that if said "exceptional power" actually exists, He owes us a lot more explanations and justifications than the other way around.

I don't know how I would justify myself though, because that seems a little vague. I guess in order to do that, I would have to know what I did that seems wrong (so I need to justify it). But I'm sure that if this power brings something up I can come up with a plausible justification.

Nah. There is no justification, I am just a bad person because.

I am pretty much cool with being exploded.

I guess I would break into tears, crying about how pathetic I am, and hopefully he'll feel sorry for me and let me live. If not... well crap. I'll just act like Cat.

I wouldn't. I'd argue that a human life is not the sort of thing that can be justified (except relative to other human lives) and thus to ask for such a justification would be to make a category mistake. Let's just hope that the being of some exceptional power is amenable to that sort of philosophical distinction.

16,000 children under the age of 5 die from hunger-related causes everyday. Justify allowing that to happen and I won't try to smash your head open with a rock.

I'm just a guy that sits there, smiles and waves, and punches you when you do something stupid. Oh, I also play video games... No?

Maybe I can convince him with "I make a mean chili and I'm potentially evil..."?

Aww man, I love that series. Damn false rape charge ruining the show!
s|false rape charge|rob grant and doug naylor going their separate ways ??

They do things together = gold
Either one goes it alone = shit

A sad, but proven fact.

Anyway, I make people laugh and help out. In a similar but opposite way to Crowley from Good Omens; without this influence, multiple other lives would be almost undetectably but definitely less enjoyable :)

(Can't really claim so much more than that. Let's hope the inquisitor has low standards)

I cannot justify the way I have lived. No man can ever repent for the evil he has done or the good he has not done. If I be damned, then let the whole of humanity be damned since we are all horrid, but if the universe bears even the slightest bit of forgiveness then let humanity be forgive and in that let all men have forgiveness.

*Then the universe kicks me in the shin and throws me into Hades*

Red Dwarf, my favourite series of all time.
Its just a shame that few people i know actually have any knowledge of the series.

Oh well. On topic, I can justify myself in the fact that while i have not done much things that are noticable on a personal scale, I can say that i have altered the lives around me for the better. If they deny that, I can point out the very time things changed. Hell, when things go bad I have been blamed for the change. (but never praised)

Ah Red Dwarf...How I loved it so much.

Justifying myself! I am a writer and a painter...a creative mind, I am the legal guardian to my little brother as such I give him a happy life away from our bat-shit crazy parents and I'm also very good at baking...XD

That's all.

Jesus looked down from the Heavens one fine morning, saw me existing, and said to Shiva, "Now there is a one fine specimen..."

Justified.

How can you say that with a Firefly avatar?! *shock, horror* ;)

OT, I dunno, I'm pretty self-critical. And lazy. So I guess I'd lose.

I've done my best to reach my goals, and in the process hurt as few people as possible. So there is my justification. I might have failed here and there, but I am only a man.
