"Might have to plan that some other time doll face."

How many Americans here have seen "Thank God Your Here"? Guess where that came from. Thats right, the land down under. I watched an episode of Oprah where she spent an hour sucking up to this TV show and not once did she mention it was Australian. But when Kath and Kim fucks up everyone runs off and says "OMFG OZ TV IS TEH SUXORZ"
Hey, we came up with Felix the Cat and Penicillin.

We make all the awesome stuff, including the Hills Hoist... and when we invented Ug boots, we had the presence of mind to call them 'Ugly Boots'

Oh, and the Victa Mower.
And the Esky. Don't forget the Esky.

Are you serious? This cant be. Why.. WHY!? Damn remakes. Like the Australian remake of Top Gear, there was absolutely no point in it being made and it is horrible.

There's an Australian Top Gear? Oh God, we might as well get building bunkers.

The Aussie Top Gear isn't that bad, it's just got exactly the same stuff that the original has.

They need to work out their strong points on the small screen, and Top Gear Australia will be a highlight of my TV routine.

Don't give up hope just yet.

What the hell America?! They just showed off there remake of Kath and Kim to Australia, which was like beating your dog to death with a baseball bat then parading it in your living room. The only similar things between the two was thee names and plot. That's it. That's all. They decided to rip out the charcaters, comedy, everything good and fill it with crap! The devil just made a new special place in hell for all those involved in making this happen. Kama will eventually hunt down those responsible and send them a one way ticket there.

For those who don't know, Kath and Kim is an Australian sitcom, a decent one at that. Perhaps the jokes may not extend to outside of Australia, but the quirky characters and subtle humour is great.

The American remake decided to go all out on 'witty' hard hitting lines (said in HUGE sarcasm) and alter the characters to... nothing. There was no characters at all, just Bland Person #1 and Bland Person #2. Gah. RAGE!
America ruins anything that isnt theres to begin with. And I can sum this up with one very simple thing: Red Dwarf.

I'll have to agree here. The Aussie remake was shit.

No. That's even worse. They actually take a good idea and fail to mention it's not theirs.

Horrible in every meaning of the word.
I nearly vomited.
Not much fun.
Not at all.
Can you hear the sound of hooves or is it just me?

...Fury...so bad... I might just kill someone.

And on topic I never liked Kath and Kim, but it is just terrible that they tried to move it. You can't ever change shows for different countries. It just ruins them.

Maybe the American 'Kath & Kim' is karma for how bad Australia's version of 'Top Gear' was..

Given Top Gear had a decent chance of working (It's a great show, an Australian version would be great right? It was just pulled off shit.) And Kath and Kim is a context specific show...

Its like cutting a mans arm off because he looked at you funny.

No, some people didn't;

a) Catch the satire
b) Muster the courage to endure the characters (That was the point)
c) Didn't appreciate the humor.

Im guessing your 'c', and slightly 'b', as you seem intelligent enough.

Okay, Purps, what you have to do is hit yourself really hard, and then repeat after me.

"I will not watch remakes, because remakes are the devil's work"

As a film student, this mantra should be engraved on your forehead. It is a remake, therefore it is shit. Remember this young media student, and you shall go far.

I never liked the idea of an Aussie Top Gear.. I have too much love for the Brit version.

But you have a point.

I'm not surprised, everytime something unique and cult like gets an American remake it comes out as pure shit.

As for the remaking of Life On Mars... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!

I loved that show, but we never got the whole thing aired in Oz, instead they blocked it up with re-runs of Ghost Squad and that Robin Hood series.

Completely agree, I didn't even see the Aussie version, but I thought this version was incredibly boring, I mean at least with The Office we didn't completely ruin a foreign sitcom, it still has it's moments.
