How many Americans here have seen "Thank God Your Here"? Guess where that came from. Thats right, the land down under. I watched an episode of Oprah where she spent an hour sucking up to this TV show and not once did she mention it was Australian. But when Kath and Kim fucks up everyone runs off and says "OMFG OZ TV IS TEH SUXORZ"

We make all the awesome stuff, including the Hills Hoist... and when we invented Ug boots, we had the presence of mind to call them 'Ugly Boots'

The Aussie Top Gear isn't that bad, it's just got exactly the same stuff that the original has.

They need to work out their strong points on the small screen, and Top Gear Australia will be a highlight of my TV routine.

What the hell America?! They just showed off there remake of Kath and Kim to Australia, which was like beating your dog to death with a baseball bat then parading it in your living room. The only similar things between the two was thee names and plot. That's it. That's all. They decided to rip out the charcaters, comedy, everything good and fill it with crap! The devil just made a new special place in hell for all those involved in making this happen. Kama will eventually hunt down those responsible and send them a one way ticket there.

For those who don't know, Kath and Kim is an Australian sitcom, a decent one at that. Perhaps the jokes may not extend to outside of Australia, but the quirky characters and subtle humour is great.

The American remake decided to go all out on 'witty' hard hitting lines (said in HUGE sarcasm) and alter the characters to... nothing. There was no characters at all, just Bland Person #1 and Bland Person #2. Gah. RAGE!

America ruins anything that isnt theres to begin with. And I can sum this up with one very simple thing: Red Dwarf.

Given Top Gear had a decent chance of working (It's a great show, an Australian version would be great right? It was just pulled off shit.) And Kath and Kim is a context specific show...

I'm not surprised, everytime something unique and cult like gets an American remake it comes out as pure shit.

As for the remaking of Life On Mars... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!

I loved that show, but we never got the whole thing aired in Oz, instead they blocked it up with re-runs of Ghost Squad and that Robin Hood series.

Completely agree, I didn't even see the Aussie version, but I thought this version was incredibly boring, I mean at least with The Office we didn't completely ruin a foreign sitcom, it still has it's moments.
